This is also a custom for my campaign.

The Free Worlds League designed this mech as a sort of "secret weapon," even going so far as to provide the mech with extensive cosmetic alteration to make it look like a normal Griffin despite its Arrow IV rack. An ECM suite was also added to help block scanners.

The idea was simple: by mounting an Arrow IV on a mech that had average mobility, they would have an artillery unit that could easily disengage from battle w/o needing additional support. Not only that, but few commanders would expect a mech such as the Griffin to be sporting artillery.

Unfortunately for the FWL, its secret got out. The WoB was able to procure three of the four prototypes for the purposes of "field testing," leaving only one prototype for the FWL.

The FWL prototype will most likely be modified soon, removing the head-mounted laser for additional electronics. It is believed that the WoB will keep their prototypes as-is.


Game play:

The characters are hired on by a mercenary unit who has a contract with one faction on a divided Chaos March planet. A mysterious bandit group has been attacking units belonging to all of the factions - including civilian medical staff. This has prompted the factions to put aside their differences long enough to halt the bandits.

In reality, the bandits were hired by a high-ranking military officer from another faction. The officer is secretly a WoB sympathizer, and is using the bandits as a ruse to justify having the WoB come in as a "peacekeeping" force. One of the three prototypes in WoB hands will be fielded by this force, and depending upon how things go the players will eventually face this unit in battle.
