This semester, I've been taking a statistics class.

The textbook for the class was designed to be partnered with an on-line homework system known as Homework Manager. The idea is that the students can do their homework on-line and then submit it; the teacher gets the grade, and the student gets the answers.

Problem is, the company who created it never bothered telling anyone that Homework Manager was still the beta version.

As it was still the beta version, it was riddled with errors. The answer key was hit the hardest, as so far all but 3 of the roughly 15 assignments we've done have had mistakes there. There were also glitches in other areas, which didn't help matters. All in all, what should have only taken me 1 hour to do each night soon became 3-4 hours as I had to figure out whose mistake each wrong answer was.

My professor has noted the frustration of everyone in the class, and so has been forwarding all of our complaints to the publisher of the book. The publisher got back to him, and said that they were working on a brand-new version of the system.

Well, sometime yesterday they activated that new version. And it's got just as many problems as the first one.

In class yesterday, the professor joked that I should send the publisher an invoice for all the beta testing I've done with this system. As a result of this recent fiasco, I'm seriously considering doing that.

So - should I? And if I do, how much should I charge? I didn't write down the exact number of hours, so it'd have to be a lump sum.

Thanks.

Well, I think that you should really do so. Even for the fun of it

Maybe that's what you're supposed to do.
