Not sure if this is the right forum for this. But i finally got my hands on a Mad Cat minature the other day (had to settle for the gangly resculped though!) And i gave it a nice desert camoflage (much like the US camo in Iraq)
But after finishing it, i just thought it looked, well, unclan-like. So i was wondering if you guys have some decent pictures of well painted clan mechs. Just for some ideas.

I guess you could always say that the Clans might camo their mechs so that they can't be seen when parked in a field tarmac, or that it is a method they started adopting after experiencing the underhanded tactics of the Inner Sphere, but the notion of camo per se seems unclanlike. Typcially, a Clan mechwarrior would boldly strut out into plain view and loudly challenge his opponent.
The idea of "trying not to be seen" seems wrong (despite the advantages highlighted by Monte Python)

Dueling, proclaiming your name and heritage, claiming trophies from fallen opponents. Does this sound like a professional army or a mob of knights out to impress each other? Clanners are likely to use International Orange and other bright colors just so everyone can see them.

Well. most clans units use a unified paint scheme much like most mercs units do.
I don't think clan units use camos. which is great for me. cause the last time I did a camo on a mech. it came out looking like some odd shaped cow

Most of the Clan pain schemes I have seen are anything but cammo. Usually Greys and greens, Greys and blues, reds and blacks and so fourth. And that is what I have seen from the invadeing clans, Warden clans, crusader clans sourse books. It also gives a detailed description of colors used by units.
But regardless even decent cammo schemes are not really going to help a 50 foot tall walking tower of desctuction.

Actually clans use camo, they are contained in source books (and the page mentioned earlier has them too).
And camo may not help to cover 50 foot tall walking tower of destruction in the open, but when it stands in the middle of forest or half buried in sand, than you may find it useful. Of course, first soldier walking around will notice it, but he'll be in range. Fighters are probably going to find it easier to spot bright orange mech rather than machine with standard camo, so I think that camouflage on mech is useful.

Which is why it's unusasl that a clanner would use it, That kind of fighting breaks Zell. which isn't good. Now a dezgra unit might imploy it. But I don't see them painting their mech like it

Well, clans probably reminded IS forces of parrots (or wasps?) during early stages of invasion. They used wild color schemes and attacked all opposition that was stupid or brave enough to stand in their way, but as they encountered more and more of treacherous IS tricks, they adapted and took some customs from their opponents. In trials they may use original colors, but on the field only the most conservative clans may use them. I think that Blood Spirits are one of those clans that don't feel the need to hide from he opposition.
