Rule change summary here

http://forums.classicbattletech.com/index.php/topic,4952.msg111967.html

good call on removing called / aim shots for pulse lasers and RACS.

Many more including a new kind of vehicles called WiGES. And now you can fire LRMs while spotting with TAG at the same time. AND FRIENDLY BAs CAN ENGAGE HOSTILE BAs ON YOUR MECH ! Yup the friendly BAs will attempt to dislodge the pests on you if your mech gets swarmed.

Credit goes to madcapellan.

2) Partial Cover now +1 to hit/hits against the leg locations instead strike the intervening terrain and are ignored.

This is probably the BIGGEST change I think, but was well needed. No more being afraid to take partial as it will actually ALWAYS help you.

2) Wing in Ground Effect (WiGE) Vehicles are introduced, which are like a cross between a Hovercraft and a VTOL, with a maximum tonnage of 80 tons. WiGEs move like Hovercraft, but hover one level above the underlying terrain. In order to remain in flight, WiGEs must move at least 5 hexes a turn.

If people will remember, way way way back when i made some rules for Ground Effect units. Probibly got eatten with mordels #1 or archived/lost/whatever with mordels #2. It is nice to see them comming out.

It also makes partial cover less daunting to the attacker. More pot-shots may be taken, the odds of a leg hit won't ever change, after all.

But did the particular elegance of this rule strike you? It now finally adds some realism to the quad-behind-partial-cover situation....without including any unwieldly special-case rules!

And yes, partial cover is now officially utterly awesome for the quads - even if the shot does hit, the odds of it missing are exactly 50/50.

I wonder how much of what we posted here went into research and design for the new rules Very Happy think they'll have a section in the book which says "Thanks to the Great Guys at Mordels?"

This is making me alle xcited to play battletech again.... sadly I'll have to buy the new book and convert other things. And I must get Combat Equipment: imagine paratrooper units descending from an airship to attack!Very Happy

Fell in love with a nice simple game that you could hold all the pertenant rules on two sides of a single sheet of paper.

Now she is all grown up and so complicated.

Its too bad.

Luckily for me, I retired.

I think perhaps for my TotalCon Events this spring I'll list them as: "FASA Battletech".

Either that or someone had better make me an all inclusive errata/update sheet for all this new crap! There is no way I am buying another rulebook/box set....I've got at least 6 already! I have no problem purchasing new sourcebooks, scenerio books, and mapsheets, (and too many heroclix) but those Wizkids Bast@rds are not getting a dime of mine for a rulebook!

Tell us how you really feel.

Actually, the marketing gurus are geniuses. They put everything into not 1 book, but 5. Yes, you'll end up needing to buy a set, but the spines side by side look beatiful.

In all seriousness, the book is very well done and is full color. I really liked it. Although granted, I got the PDF and a BC limited edition for free, but I'll still be buying a regular addition and a standard limited edition. The collector in me says I have to!

If there are now 5 rule books, then that makes my choice pretty easy.

Anyone want to play warzone?
