Who does everyone like as actors? And in your opinion who is the best actor around right now? And who is your least favorite. Lets try to keep it nice and not kill each other either
Mine I have to say Johnny Depp. The guy is absolutely amazing IMO. There are actors that when they play different role you look at them and say /shrug. Its soandso Playing yet another character. To me you cant tell its him, Jack Sparrow, is Jack Sparrow, not Depp playing him. The same with Willy Wonka (though I didn't like the move to much Depp was great). By far the best character actor out there. Another favorite of mine that he is in is, Duan Juan Demarco.
Anyway just curious about peoples perceptions.
(and to add a little fuel to the fire) I will admit that I think Jim Carey is one of the more overrated actors out there. And in most cases you could replace him with someone else and get a much better movie. (With the exception of Liar, Liar. He was perfect for that.)

There are a lot of actors like Deppe, I really can't pick one single one that I like.
One of the best I think is Rod Talyor. He like Deppe could play a character and while it may be similar to one he did before he tried to NOT make it the same one over and over again.
Then there is Michieal Ironsides, he is an awesome stock character actor who can play just about anything and make it look decent.
Bruce Boxliter (I think I got his name right) is another one who can play almost any role.
Gray Senise is a decent actor and I liked his role in Imposter, I think he did one hell of a job there.

Off the top of my head:
Best actor ever: Peter O'toole. As evidence, I give you Troy and Lawrence of Arabia. More evidence? King Ralph, The Stuntman, and Becket.
I'd have to think (and go through some filmographies) to give others.
Favorites for their acting chops: Depp, Neesan, Rickman, Oldman.
Boxlietner is a good TV actor, and Tron was good. Don't think he's really fit for the big screen though.
Peter Weller ought to get an award just for making Robocop human without any facial expressions, body language, or tone.
Saw Harry Potter a few nights ago: watch Rupert Grint and Emma Watson and the actor playing Neville. Daniel Radcliff doesn't have the chops to rise above Harry Potter, but the others do (and it helps that they aren't the star, so they are less identified with the series). _________________ "Politics is the Art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, misdiagnosing the problem, and applying the wrong solution."

Emma Watson did a great job IMO.
I thought thought te movie was good, but they only scratched the surface of the book.

Just watched Harry Potter as well, Wow what a great movie! And I dont know but I think Daniel may someday raise above the Harry role. But I think they all may be stuck in the mold for a while.
And there are others out there that I like. But Deppe strikes me as the cut above the rest.
Brendan Frasier, Jet Li, Ed Harris, Jim Caviezel, Toby Mcguire, and a few others are all very good as well.
It just seems that the clowns comming along now, and seem to be getting more and more movies are just horrible.

Two words:
Bruce Campbell.
Not the best actor (by any stretch of the imagination), but one of the biggest cult actors ever, along with Tim Curry.
To see good acting on Campbell's part, watch Bubba Ho-Tep.
Another I like is a voice actor named Tony Jay. he has one of the most distinctive voices ever. A short list of things he's done (if you've never heard of him): a dead conquorer in Icewind Dale, the king in Armed and Dangerous, the narrator in The Bard's Tale, and Megabyte in Reboot.

Don't forget Planescape: Torment.
I'd also like to add Steven Blum to the list of voice actors.
