Give it a couple of Filmonts and a few Limpets, and this will form the core of one mean battlegroup.

Tell me what you think.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
The Reaper class carrier is a fleet support design, intended to lend firepower
to the battlegroup it is assigned to through the large numbers of fighters it
is capable of carrying.

When the Reaper program started, it was intending to create a large, 1.5
million+ ton assault carrier, Carrying nearly the same number of fighters it
currently possesses, but far more direct firepower. Once the AFFC
Quartermasters got wind of the massive cost, however, the project was
immediately scaled back to its' current tonnage and capabilities.

==Capabilities:==
The Reaper was never designed to operate on its' own, and relies heavily on
other ships for protection. It is not particularly fast, heavily armored, or
well armed, but the amount of firepower its' fighters can bring to bear
against enemy forces makes them very dangerous combatants.

Often the single docking collar is occupied by a Vengeance class dropship,
further enhancing the battlegroup's fighter power. Just as often a Mule,
Mammoth or Behemoth dropship occupies the space, increasing the maximum
deployment time of the fleet.

Twin Howser 2G2 "Hotfire" engines allow the Reaper to keep pace with most
ships, and provide power for the ship's large compliment of energy weapons.

*Initiates gentle prodding*

I would have expected at least one reponse from the great shipbuilders Vagabond, Motown, and Karagin.

*Ceases gentle prodding*

It's not bad. I'm afraid that that's the best you'll gret out of me here, because a support carrier of this size isn't my style. I prefer the assault carrier concept, a carrier with enough naval grade weapons to protect itself from attack by other WarShips. That frees the carrier's consorts to attack with minimal worries. A single Kirishima in the wrong place is big trouble for this thing.

Three quarrels here.

-Armor. But then, I always say that. I'm a max armor kind of guy, so everything looks lightly armored to me.

-Fighters. I don't think that any single star system would require the deployment of 32 fighter wings. That's 10 full strength and one short regiment.

-Cargo. I'm like you in that I tend to skimp on WarShip cargo space. But this needs a lot more cargo space to support fuel, ordnance, and spare parts for its fighters. A lot more as in tens of thousands of tons. I recall somone recommending 200 tons per fighter, but don't remember who.

As someone else has already said, it has to many fighters and not enough cargo.

You do realize that 60 fighters is a regiment [assuming a battalion and regimental command lance.] You can carry 5 of them. In some houses, 5 regiments are the entire Aerospace force.

As for the cargo, Staraven is accurate in that a carrier should carry atleast 200 tons of cargo per fighter. I personly do this at 100 tons for repair parts and 100 tons of ammo.

My other nit picks are this: it only has 1 docking collar when it should have atleast 4, it has Broad Side mounted weapons which are just misplaced on anything other then direct fire warships, you group Anti-Air weapons in to large a group, you place two different weapon sizes and ranges in the same group, you group your naval missiles, and your spare parts size is less then 2 percent.

Your building a support carrier here not a Cruiser or Destroyer. Your broadsides are already covered by your fore and aft side arcs and therefor do not need to be covered further. The only exception to this opinion is when you remove the for and aft side arcs and place there weapons in the front, aft, and broadsides instead. This gives a 360 cover of fire with no coverage overlap.

It is my personel prefrence on weapon mounting and grouping, but i just do not like seeing more then 2 Anti-Air weapons in one group unless those weapons do not combine to cause 1[10] dmg. Anti-Air weapons are more about putting out a curtain of weapons fire more then shear damage. The more groups firing the better. On this same note, i also feel naval missiles should ALWAYS be mounted individually. It just seems right that way. The last thing on this note, it is again my opinion, but i do not like it when weapons of different types and ranges are combined into one bay. This is exampled by you LPL and MPL bays. Split up that fire power so that your damage is consistent over range.

Those are all my nit picks.

Overall, it is a good idea that falls flate because it just won't work in the BT universe. Drop some fighter bays, add cargo, and add docking collars.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==

==Capabilities:==
The Reaper was never designed to operate on its' own, and relies heavily on
other ships for protection. It is not particularly fast, heavily armored, or
well armed, but the amount of firepower its' fighters can bring to bear
against enemy forces makes them very dangerous combatants.

Often the docking collars are occupied by Avenger class dropships, further
enhancing the battlegroup's fire power. Just as often Mule, Mammoth or
Behemoth dropships occupy the space, increasing the maximum deployment time of
the fleet.

Twin Howser 2G2 "Hotfire" engines allow the Reaper to keep pace with most
ships, and provide power for the ship's large compliment of energy weapons.

For some reason, I thought that MPLs only did two points of damage each. I dunno why, but I did. I also added some Anti-Missile Systems.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==

==Capabilities:==

Honestly, I feel that you now have too few fighters. A Thera carries four regiments of fighters, which is a little much, I think. But I think that 120 fighters would be a good number; two regiments. Enough to guarantee that you have sufficient fighters to do everything you need to do, while not so many as to strip fighters from across the realm.

Well, it is a light carrier. 120 fighters is good, yet it is fine as it is at 60 as a light support carrier. Either way, it is gonna be fine.

If you want more fighters, you can get another carrier. They're relatively cheap (even the Fox and Impavido corvettes cost more).

Gee, thanks for including me in this I've posted several AeroSpace vessels, from the Erian Hendvarden class BattleShip to the Lowly Excellsior class combat JumpShip (A heavily armored JS for use by combat units unable to get their hands on a WarShip).

And yes I know this is an old post, just catching up on stuff I missed during one of my "away" periods before this new one starts and I only have time for the current posts and such.

-Cargo. I'm like you in that I tend to skimp on WarShip cargo space. But this needs a lot more cargo space to support fuel, ordnance, and spare parts for its fighters. A lot more as in tens of thousands of tons. I recall somone recommending 200 tons per fighter, but don't remember who.

I believe I was in on that discussion, or at least read it and agreed in my mind. Comparisions were made to modern day Carriers. I usually (now) place 200-400 tons of cargo space for fighter supplies on any Carrier I design.

The first version will have problems with launching its fighters: 2 fighters can be launched per door so it will take 54 combat-rounds to get rid of your main weapon! Most engagements will have ended till then or you´ll have to launch your fighters nearly an hour before the fight!

The other versions only need 5 rounds so that is much better!!!
