A Mech a friend and I had constructed some 15 years ago! I´ve submitted it but it hasn´t come through yet!

==Overview:==
As new technologies spread over the Inner Sphere following the discovery of
the Gray Death Memory Core Irian BattleMechs Unlimited soon dicided not only
to upgrade older models but to construct a new one!
The task was given to C. Hrovat, a new but promising Mechdesigner.
He was enthusiastic about the idea to construkt a light Mech with the newly
available Hermes 300 XL fusion engine to give it incredible speed:
The FE-1MM Ferret was born!
==Capabilities:==
The Ferret was based on a standard-version of the HER-1 30t chassis. The
Hermes 300 XL also produced for the OTL-5M Ostsol gave it a speed of above 160
kph and the ability to outrun every other design of it´s time and even most
hovers and some VTOL´s!
To protect this speed-demon the designers decided to put 5,5 tons of the new
FF-armor on the frame. Because the fusion reactor came (as standard) with 10
integral double heat sinks and Irian wanted a deep-penetration ability only
energy-weapons were intended. First plans called for 3 medium pulse lasers but
Hrovat didn´t like the short range and heavy tonnage of them. He decided to
mount 6 standard medium lasers instead that gave the Ferret very heavy
firepower with a standard range and no heat problems!
The Mech was sold as a deep penetration striker and light Mech hunter.
==Variants:==
As soon as new ER-technology was available the Ferret was equipped with ER
medium lasers.
But the FE-1ER had serious problems with overheating because the pilots tried
to alphastrike two or three times like they were able to in the original
FE-1MM. So only a few field upgrade kits were produced.
A later series was equipped with Endo Steel Structure. The saved weight was
used to mount a Beagle Active Probe (FE-2R) or 5 ER medium laser instead of
the standards plus 2 DHS and 0,5 tons of armor (FE-2ER) or 4 ER medium laser
instead of the standards plus a DHS, a Beagle Active Probe and a targeting
computer purchased on the black market!
This FE-2T Prototyp has been proven very effectiv but production will be
deleted until House Davion is willing to sell their TC´s or House Marik gets a
reengeniering done!
==Deployment==
The design was spread throughout Marik-space but selling-numbers soon stay
behind expectations. Most buyers refused to spend almost 5,5 mio C-bills for
"only a light Mech"!

I'd remove the Medium from the head so the pilot doesn't die of heat and use the free tonnage to knock off the ferros fiberous. Might make it cheaper.
The speed saves it, due to the medium's short range.

It has no faulty cooling-jacket for the headmounted Medium! 
If every Mech with a Medium Laser in it´s head will kill his pilot a lot of Mechs will never be used!
I´ve used this for about 15 years and the firepower of 6 Mediums without heat-buildup had saved my day multiple times!
Ok, it´s about 110.000 cheaper but with a cost of around 5.5 mio it wouldn´t be much better!
