The original mech was designed as a light, highly mobile fire support platform. Something that I think this mech might be lacking.
Before you start screaming for my head, let me explain.
Three LRM 5's have the same damage potential as a Clan ER PPC, that is, 15 points of damage. Now I know its rare for all three launchers to hit with all five missiles. If an average of 3 missiles (for the sake of argument) per launcher hit the target, thats 9 points of damage of a possible 15.
The ER PPC lumps that same ammount of damage into one shot. Hit, and youre going to really wreck someones mood. Miss, and thats 0 damage dealt out of a possible 15.
On the positive side, this modification eliminates the Baboon 1's total dependance on ammo. I cant justify giving this a higher rating, as the lack of ammo is balanced by the 'all or nothing'-ness of the PPC.
Still, a mixed star of these, and the original mech would be a very effective and dangerous support star.

You've got some good points here. Mixing a star of baboon 1s and 2s would be nice. The PPC carriers act as spotters for indirect LRM fire, and concentrate their own fire on enemy lights. Ever see what an ER PPC does to a twenty-five tonner with a single hit.
