==Overview:==
The Ranger battle suit was designed by a recent upstart company,
Diablo War Machines, as their flagship product. The Ranger has
certainly lived up to their hopes, and is by far their top
seller.
The Ranger suit was designed around the ancient concept of
highly-trained and -mobile troops being used to assault
particularly difficult targets, fight in unconventional warfare,
and be deployed behind enemy lines to gather intelligence and
strike at rear-echelon assets. The prime historical example of
this concept was the ancient organization known as the Rangers.
The Rangers were masters of rapid-deployment, fast and intense
assaults, and infiltration of enemy lines.
==Capabilities:==
The Ranger is one of the few suits that can perform HALO/HAHO drops,
thanks to the integral parafoil carried on the suit's back. This
high-altitude insertion ability makes a Ranger-equipped unit able
to deploy behind enemy lines with relative ease, where other units
would have to risk a low-altitude drop or, worse yet, try to sneak
past the enemy lines on foot.
Once down, the Ranger squads can perform many tasks, from simply
scouting around to demolitions work. Each suit is equipped with a
light Recoilless Rifle, usually loaded with anti-armor rounds to
deal with fortifications and light vehicles, as one of the
Ranger's primary duties is disruption of enemy C3 and supply
lines.
Mounted on the suit's left arm is one of the most important items
the suit carries: a Light TAG system. With this system, the Ranger
squads can call in tactical and strategic artillery and aerospace
strikes, destroying vital enemy targets that the squad alone could
never hope to overcome.
==Deployment==
Diablo War Machines was founded by several ex-infantrymen from
several Great Houses, most of which fought in the first Clan War.
They agreed that what the Inner Sphere needed most was a unified
front, with as many common units as possible. Thus, it was decided
that the Ranger would be made available to all Houses,
governments, militias, and mercenaries who could afford to
purchase them.
