I scratch my head over this one. Close ranged weapons is 31 with a run. Long range is 17 with a run.

Funny thing the number of heat sinks is no where near either number. So either your 3 short or completely need to redesign the weapons to work with just the basic number.

Although this is clan tech and being inefficent usually doesn't get you killed because you have the god weapons. I'd swear this thing has more armour than many other 55,60 ton OMNI clan designs as well which is a nice point.

The light active probe interests me, but why is it there? I'd like an explanation. Usually, I like the full probe, the light gear is usually just a waste of time.

Basically you have a damage out put of around 45 without producing any heat. At the same time if you over heat by 5 your commiting yourself in a clan battle. Too many clan machines find 5/8 too easy to keep up with, which means you'll have lost your speed edge.

The targeting computer is nice... but most clan mech warriors believe they are a crutch, and Smoked Jaguars weren't exactly known for being anything but bigoted and very agressive.

For them to design a new OMNI with a tar-comp I'd be suprised. It'd fit the innovators (Diamond Shark, Burrock) or the ones most worried about the best survival rates (Blood Spirits, Ghost Bear, Snow Raven, Hells Horses).

As for an unknown omni in any PGC. Heck in a clan battle before hand you TRANSMIT to your opponent designations and pilots of all machines. So they'd immeaditly know you had a "Lion" which will be another trial you fight because every clan wants new toys.

Its an average mech with too many flaws really to score well.

For heat-sinks I actually never wanted it to alpha-strike much. ER PPC is just for Jousting and harassing as you close on enemy and then altering fire with ER lasers and SRMs, or PPC and SRMs but not both.

Light active probe was added as last warning, when you pass around enemy (not much other use and may be exchanged for flamer occasionally).

In their last days SJs were pretty hard-pressed, so they may mount even TCs.

This is actually information leak discovered by ComStar adepts while searching captured databases, thats why this information is so generally available. JFs captured just a prototype, probably incomplete and without much spare parts, so they sent it somewhere where it won't see much action and on some backwater out-of-reach planet to fill the ranks (my fault, the fluff isn't perfect).

I designed this not to be much efficient. It has many typical clan mech faults (no JJs, overheating).

Any suggestions for improvement?

Edit: For surprise fielding, I don't want to take part in any net battles. I just send my ideas and try to learn something from yours.

Where did this crutch thing come from? It's been my understanding that most Crusaders will accept any technology which makes them better in a fight. Smoked Jags used EI implants too.

Wardens (Wolves), on the other hand, see EI implants and cybernetics in general as making warriors into something they're not, and don't use them. But even they still use targeting computers.

Excellent point. And something I blame on the blasted computer game Mechwarrior series.

Mechs that Alpha Strike and folks who have to use them are munchkin players. They are as bad as the folks who have to have Targ and Pulse Lasers to win.

Glad to see you aren't making mechs like that.

but that is usually on their 2nd liners like the Galahad 2.

However Khan Vlad uses it on his Masakari C as well...

Well... Shadowdancer PRIME (40t 7/11/6 5 med. Pulse lasers TC, ECM, AP 10 DHS) is just one of such munchkin mechs. But there are other configs.

From what I understand you think I wanted an alpha strike boat. I just believe you should have enough heat sinks to fire either your close range bracket of weapons or your long range bracket. Having two close range brackets kind of makes me scratch my head.

I'm a real old school 3025 player. I think it shows in most of my posts.

sorry, if I take awhile to respond lately. I just finished moving. HOpefully I can get the net hooked up so I don't have to find hot spots just to do this kind of posting.

Long range bracket:
PPC + run = 17 heat, 15 damage

Medium range bracket:
4 lasers + run = 22 heat, 28 damage
2 lasers + PPC + walk = 27 heat, 29 damage

Short range bracket:
medium range brackets
3 SRMs + PPC + run = 26 heat, 39 damage
4 lasers + 3 SRMs + run = 31 heat, 52 damage

If you don't run every turn and if you don't lock all SRMs every turn (that may be quite often), you may alter PPC with SRMs and lasers with SRMs and stay low on heat scale.
