Even at that cost, i question the use of fusion engines.. how much would it cost to field an ICE version?

Nice, but we have the APCs already in the TROs that can be used and those are flexible enough to be IFVs with some tweaking...

To me an IFV has a chain gun/autocannon and/or a Missile system of some kind as well as the dismounts, running with nothing but MGs says APC not IFV but that could be a matter of taste and all.

and not just the unit cost, but parts, maintence, and training to do so.

Yeah i am.. penny pincher, etc.
And Vagabond's got a point about maintenance too.

Any hick technician can fix an ICE engine..
Also like Karagin says, the existing APCs and Heavy APCs work pretty well.

You can alwasy use goblins or maxims if you need more punch.

Never really saw the need for fusion powered APCs and IFVs though.

Also an IFV with only a few MGs is vulnerable and with you using a fusion engine u can afford some lasers. (well since u are blowing cash for a fusion engine, might as well get these)

It's a nice idea, but they're a little underpowered for their role. An IFV, by definition, stays and fights with it's infantry, while the APC is only meant to drop its troops an leave. While I see you're trying to be cost effective, it's not very cost effective if you have high losses to replace.

I also have to agree with ICE over Fusion acrgument. The only places where a Fusion engine will be more cost effective is if you're using energy weapons or if operating in extreme cold where ICE engines require special care.

I sorta made these as light, general purpose cheap IFVs. I should change the name to 'light' IFVs. On the ICE/Fusion argument...well...-points at affiliation- Im used to big big budgets for my units...

I agree..

They haven't any problems with spending cash on tanks like the Rommel and Patton..

You may be used to big budgets, but you yourself stated that these designs were to be CHEAP and light vehicles. Arguing that you are in favour of big budgets while offering up supposed cheap designs doesn't really work.

The argument for ICE engines is because they're meant to be cheap vehicles. If they were to be just light IFVs I'd agree with them packing fusion engines.

except lite IFVs with machine guns dont work. An IFV has to support its disembarked infantry as long as possible.
