Of course it's slow. It's a micro-sized assault 'mech, not a well-armed heavy. Different design philosophies.

Well, we've got a name. Now we need fluff. Any ideas?

Well, why would anyone build a smaller assault mech? Money is one factor. Available production lines is another. Perhaps the factory has a damaged line that's set to build assaults but can't support the weight?

I was going to say that it should be Capellan, as the 3025 version is dirt cheap. My first thought upon seeing it was "UrbanMech ultra."

The 3050 version can be the new production model, I suppose.

I like Nightmare's idea of a damaged factory. Anything in 3025 have an armament similar to this?

And I question the Streak 2 in the 3050 version. It seems that there are other ways to use 2.5 tons. Then again, I can't think of a good way to use that half ton, so maybe not.

The battlemaster has a similar weapons loadout. A PPC, six Medium Lasers, and a missile system.

Possible background: There was a Battlemaster assembly plant on the planet...(looks at an IS map) Lucerne. When Kurita invaded the Federated Suns at the start of the Succession Wars, the plant was damaged. Irreparable damage to part of the plant has reduced the maximum weight of the 'mechs produced to 60 tons. Since no good 'mech plant can be spared, and there were plenty of parts already on-site, a downscaled Battlemaster was designed and produced.

Opinions?

SIDENOTE: This is my most powerful 'mech design ever, in terms of power-to-weight. An astonishing .98 points of damage/ton. That's pretty cool...

I would say its a possible canidate for the Kressely warworks factory. They have the Lineholder (a great mech btw) that is a low cost machine using mostly lvl 1 tech and it is a 3058 design.

Here's the finished product I will be submitting to the TRO. Both the level 1 and level 2 versions.

Type/Model: Tasche TSE-1A
Tech: Inner Sphere / 3025
Config: Biped BattleMech
Rules: Level 1, Custom design

Mass: 60 tons
Chassis: Bergan XI Standard
Power Plant: 180 GM HeavyLoad Fusion
Walking Speed: 32.4 km/h
Maximum Speed: 54.0 km/h
Jump Jets: None
Jump Capacity: 0 meters
Armor Type: StarGuard IV Standard
Armament:
  1 Donal Technologies PPC
  6 Martell Medium Lasers
  1 Krieger Small Laser
  1 Mitchell Systems LRM 15
Manufacturer: Hollis Industries
  Location: Lucerne
Communications System: HartfordCo COM 4000
Targeting & Tracking System: HartfordCo XKZ 1

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
The Tasche was actually more a product of happenstance than actual design. At
the start of the first Succession war, on the planet Lucerne, a small
battlemech factory was just being finished, intended to manufacture the
powerful Battlemaster assault 'mech. Unfortunately, when House Kurita invaded
the world, the manufacturing plant was severely damaged.

When Davion forces finally managed to free the world, the factory had been
reduced to only semi-operation. It could still produce battlemechs, but its
structure could no longer support the massive weight of the Battlemaster it
had been tooled to create. A thorough structural examination revealed that the
heaviest chassis the facility could safely produce had been reduced to just 60
tons.

Not wanting an otherwise perfectly good 'mech plant to go to waste, Hollis
Industries quickly came up with an offshoot of the Battlemaster to be
produced. It shared vitrually all of its parts with its venerable big brother,
and was easily mass-manufactured by the damaged plant.

==Capabilities:==
The Tasche has served surprisingly well, considering how it came to be.
Functioning as a sort of "micro" assault 'mech, it has been recorded defeating
'mechs up to 20 tons heavier than itself with astonishing regularity.

While extremely slow for a 'mech of its' size, the Tasche's weapons and armor
allow it to keep any opponent wary, lest they fall victim to the "Quillboar",
an appropiate nickname taken from a small but particularly vicious animal
native to the planet Acala.

Like its big brother, the Tasche does best up close, where it can bring to
bear its incredible array of Martell lasers. It actually improves upon its
predecessor in long-range firepower, however, supplimenting the Donal PPC with
a Mitchell Systems LRM-15 rack, which replaces the old Holly missile system.

The overall effectiveness of the 'mech, along with its amazingly low price
tag, has made it a favorite among poorer worlds, periphery powers, and
mercenaries looking for heavy firepower.

==Variants:==
Two main variants of the Tasche have surfaced in the years it have been
produced.

The 1B removes two Medium Lasers, a heat sink, and the LRM system to make room
for a Hovertec Quad missile system and an Armstrong J11 autocannon. While
slightly more powerful offensively than the 1A, the design suffers from a lack
of rear-firing weaponry, and from the ammo-dependency of the two new weapons.

The 1G, however, has been gaining popularity as of late. It has removed the
15-rack to make room for twin Hovertec Quad missile systems, as well as
several more heat sinks.

==Overview:==

Not wanting an otherwise perfectly good 'mech plant to go to waste, Hollis
Industries quickly came up with an offshoot of the Battlemaster to be
produced. It shared vitrually all of its parts with its venerable big brother,
and was easily mass-manufactured by the damaged plant.

The factory has since been completely repaired, but due to the popularity of
the 'mech it produced, it was left to continue production of the Tasche. In
3046, the plant was shut down for repair and replacement of most of its heavy
machinery. When the lines opened again in early 3048, a new version of the
Tasche began to walk out of the factory doors.

==Capabilities:==
When Hollis Industries decided to upgrade the Tasche, they looked at what it
did well, and what it didn't. While the 'mech was ton-for-ton the most
powerful battlemech ever designed, it suffered from poor maneuverability, a
fact that many opponents exploited to keep out of range of the 'mechs primary
weapons battery.

Thanks to the increased efficiency of the new "freezer" heat sinks, enough
space was freed up to install a larger engine, bringing the Tasche's top speed
up to a very respectable 65 kph. Yet more weight was saved through the
installation of new StarGuard CIV Ferro-Fibrous armor. Enough tonnage was
saved to install a Federated SuperStreak missile launcher. Lacking a more
optimal spot to place the launcher, the missile tubes were mounted in the
head, arraged so as to have one tube on each side of the cockpit. The
superfluous Krieger laser was removed, in favor of a CASE system to protect
the ammunition bays.

If you have a little extra spending cash, you might try buying one of these.

Type/Model: Tasche TSE-2J
Tech: Inner Sphere / 3050
Config: Biped BattleMech
Rules: Level 2, Custom design

Mass: 60 tons
Chassis: Bergan XI Standard
Power Plant: 240 GM HeavyLoad Fusion
Walking Speed: 43.2 km/h
Maximum Speed: 64.8 km/h
Jump Jets: 4 GM Jetstar Standard Jump Jets
Jump Capacity: 120 meters
Armor Type: StarGuard CIV w. CASE Ferro-Fibrous
Armament:
  1 Donal Technologies PPC
  5 Martell Medium Lasers
  1 Federated 10-shot LRM 10
1 Federated SuperStreak Streak SRM 2
Manufacturer: Hollis Industries
  Location: Lucerne
Communications System: HartfordCo COM 4000
Targeting & Tracking System: HartfordCo XKZ 1

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==

Industries quickly came up with an offshoot of the Battlemaster to be
produced. It shared virtually all of its parts with its venerable big brother,
and was easily mass-manufactured by the damaged plant.

==Capabilities:==

==Variants:==
As yet, only one variant of the 2A has appeared, used mainly in the Draconis
March. The LRM system is downgraded from the original 15-rack to a 5-tube
system, the rear-firing laser is replaced with a Pulse variant, and the
leftover tonnage is used to install a Hovertec SRM-4, equipped with Artemis IV
FCS circuitry.

There are, however, reports that Hollis is working on a new factory variant,
one that sacrifices some of its long-range firepower and a medium laser for
jump capability.
