Just issue all your commanders Archers, thats how all the successful mercenaries do it. Plus with the AC 20. I'd be tempted to close every day of the week, because its more lethal than the rest of the weapons combined.
I'm not sure you've captured the essence of what you wanted to. Maybe an LRM 20, a PPC, and two AC 5s with a couple medium lasers would make more of a use?
I'm guessing here. Trying to figure out what kind of weapons you issue to commanders to get them to avoid the front lines.
Still as a generic Atlas I'm not liking it enough.

Fair enough. I'm not sure if the current fluff tells you sufficiently what I was really thinking of.
A couple of weeks ago, I got myself Aerotech2, and loved it + the TRO section. And I thought that the Riever 100B load out would fit the Atlas chassis. It also kinda gelled with the fluff, because (for obvious reasons), that Aerospace variant was not very popular.
All of that just "inspired" me to go for a Dakka-Dakka variant that was fun but relatively harmless. See? I can do non-munchy, too!
Oh, and I did post a thread just asking whether it was worth it or not:
