This I laugh about. Yet another unconverted heathen. It has to do with range brackets and heat dissapation and the ability to fire at all kinds of different hexes to never produce heat unless you want to.
The Pulses are there to pick off infantry and fast things. The Mediums to keep heat down, and the ER for better to hit rolls. It might not make sense, but making my opponent unsettled is my job and this Crusader can manage that.
The ER was there for the slightly longer range, and better to hit from 9-12 hexes. It wasn't a great idea, but I had one ton left and felt I had enough LRM ammo. Basically it becomes a C3 Slave or TAG or something most campaigns. Its your one ton place holder.
