The Foundation Gaming Convention
April 1-3
Lansing, MI
I know myself, Daphne, and Karagin are all in MI, hope to see you 2 there as I'll be running events, and MAYBE a booth!! If you go look for someone running Magic the Gathering tournaments, a booth for Comics Central, or a BattleTech Tournament.
Anyways, back to tournament info:
"The Foundation Gaming Convention, Michigans largest gaming convention, is coming back to mid-michigan the weekend of April 1-3 2005. Visit us online today to find out about our new location, running or playing in an event, and all the new attractions coming to Foundation."
www.foundation-games.com
As I said, I may be running events and/or a booth. If I do it will be posted sometime in early-mid March on their website. Mostly I need to get things squared with the owner of CC (Comics Central) and see if he wants me to run a booth for him there like I did recently at MI-Con (which I hope to see you 2 at next year also Daph and Karagin) as I ran his Booth, and 2 Magic tournaments there and we did ok even though this year's turnout was pretty bland.
Anyone from here, but from outta state come on in.
If I run my battletech tournament it will be $5 entry fee, bring your own minis (I only have a very small collection...), 30% of Entry Fees for the winner, 10% for 2nd place and 5% for 3rd (total of 45% for prizes) the rest of which will be put into improving my event for the following year. I'll have more details for when they post about it on their website, and I'll drop them here too. Like format (tech level, era, etc etc...)
I'll also be selling off my RS books since I now have HM progs and I much prefer them.
If you mods feel this is in the wrong place or does not belong move or strike it, however I felt this was the best forum for it since it covers anything general BT. I'll also be posting this on the calender.

Good to hear, even if you aren't there all 3 day and can only show up say... Sunday I'll be there if I'm going. I wish I'd known how close you lived when I lived down in Grand Rapids though, I needed players for my campaign down there.

%^$#%$$%%%$^&%$&$
I know Foundations is HUGE for Btech. And it seems I miss it every year, both fall and spring. So anyone in OH, IN, IL needs to see if they can make it. I am friends with a lot of these guys and the stories are incrediable. The guys running this even brought some life back into the dead Michicon and Btech was the big game.
AWAD- Hmmm can I tell the boss, no not the wife, I need to skip my Asia trip.

Heh, MI-Con was pretty dead this year. I ran a booth there, and did a single Magic tournament as well. After product cost and table fees... I made $25.00... which is pretty sad. I did have fun though, and was my first exposure to GURPS (they close vendor booths at 6pm, so after that I stuck around till closing-10pm-and played in various games. GURPS was the last I played in, from 7:30 till 10:00 and I loved it.
[edit]
However if you michiganders, or any other mordellians, wanna bother showing up to next year's MI-Con...
I'll run another booth and a few BTech events.

HMMM was it the summer or winter verison? I did not do the Jan session. Maybe I ran into you. Blaine Pardoe showed up at Michicon last summer..... it's one claim to any real success.
As I said for the Foundations guys, they are tryig to revive a 3 year old corpse. It is before my time but it seems some of the organizors had a falling out and then they moved it to the Italian Cultural Center..... and that was the death knell. 2001 was not bad, but it has been in free fall since.
Good luck at the next con.
AWAD- Doing Origins again this year

Not Michicon, MI-Con. Its a somewhat local con held once a year here in Mt. Pleasant. It's ran by college kids from Mt. Pleasant and Alma. I've never made it to Michicon.

And a lot of people drive 1 hour one way for work!!!! so one hour for one day of a convention should not be a big deal. It is how badly you want to play. Foundations is based on not paying a general fee then a small per game. It use to be $5 per game. So drop $10, 8 hours, $10 on gas, 2 hours, and $10 on food. 10 hours of fun for $30, not bad at all.
AWAD- I had one gamer that drove 45 minutes one way every week to be in my game

| Another thing you can do is get together with a bunch of your friends pile into one car (or van) and split the cost of gas.pack along a cooler;and away you go!
