I agree it can make for an exciting explosion, however, I added a ton of armor to it. The 3rd ton of ammo was added so it could remain on the field for the same amount of time before retiring to an ammo dump.

Well depending on the variant you either added, or took away a ton of armour.
your right though on the base missile model you added a ton.
I would have thought more launchers and only 2 tons of ammo would have been a better pairing for someone to have for a missile boat.
Always liked having more racks and less ammo crits. Something like 3 SRM 4 tubes and 2 tons ammo. Rather than 2 SRM 6 and 3 tons ammo.
Although it doesn't quite break up right then.
I don't like uncased ammo, and I don't like XL engines. I believe throughly a mech can have either one of them and not have a problem. Both is a recipe for disaster from my experience.

That was 3 launchers and 3 tons ammo. And I'm glad I don't have your experience which seems unduly bad. I used the XL to get more weight to make the changes I desired.

And since you can have all 3 launchers eating from the same bin you go through a bin 3x as fast. Empty bins don't explode
