Despite my recent comment about the disproportionate amount of assault 'mechs vs. other weights, I just couldn't stop myself...

Type/Model:    Sledge SDG-1A
Tech:          Inner Sphere / 3050
Config:        Biped BattleMech
Rules:         Level 2, Custom design

Mass:          100 tons
Chassis: Geometric 500 Hard Core Standard
Power Plant: 300 GM Classic Fusion
Walking Speed: 32.4 km/h
Maximum Speed: 54.0 km/h
Jump Jets:     None
Jump Capacity: 0 meters
Armor Type: Starshield with CASE Standard
Armament:
  2 Kreuss PPCs
  6 ExoStar II Medium Lasers
  1 FarFire Maxi-Rack LRM 20
  1 Holly-4 Pack SRM 4
Manufacturer:  General Motors
  Location:    Kathil / FC (GM)
Communications System:  Tek BattleCom
Targeting & Tracking System: Tek Tru-Trak

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
The Sledge was designed as a front-line assault 'mech, one capable of standing
shoulder-to-shoulder with Atlas' and Awesomes in a battle line, and dealing
out devastating amounts of damage.

==Capabilities:==
One of the hallmarks of an assault 'mech is thick armor, and the Sledge has it
in abundance, carrying over 19 tons of CASE-equipped Starshield armor.

The Sledge often starts off a battle with barrages from the FarFire Maxi-Rack.
Closer in, it can begin firing its twin Kreuss Particle Cannons, adding to the
chaos caused by the LRM rack. Finally, at short range, the battery of Exostar
II Medium Lasers and the Holly 4-Pack SRM system can savage any target.

Further enhancing the Sledge's capabilities is the Tek suite of electronics.
The Tek system, some of the most powerful and versatile electronics around,
make the Sledge just as valuable in the role of command 'mech as it is on the
front lines.

==Deployment==
The Sledge has seen wide deployment among the forces of the Federated
Commonwealth, and has met with warm receptions wherever it is stationed.

That was the idea. A combination between the Atlas (100 tons + max armor), Battlemaster (Laser battery), and Warhammer (Twin PPCs).

It is a decent mech...not sure though which house would be the one to make such a mech.

It may be an assault 'Mech, but it's not bad. A nice weapons load out, especially. Still, it seems somewhat oversinked.

How so? If it's not firing the rear-facing laser and the LRM, it can generate 40 points of heat per round. it dissipates 38. I fully intend the Sledge to close with its target, and fire every weapon it has, as often as it can.

Ah. I see. I figured heat by range. PPCs/LRM, then lasers/SRM. I tend to figure heat by range brackets, with just enough heat sinks for long or short range weapons. I also tend to apply that to other 'Mechs, even if they're not designed that way. It's how I think.

In that case, it looks even better.
