==Overview:==
The first Rifleman was built for Star League by Kallon Industries in
2505. Designed as a medium fire-support vehicle, this early model was lighter
and less heavily armored than the current version, and mounted Kallon Class C
laser cannon. Chronic overheating forced the addition of more heat sinks and
the replacement of the old lasers with more efficient Magna IIs and IIIs.
This version of the Rifleman, the 4A, was first introduced in 3049, as a
field refit of the old 3N.
==Capabilities:==
The new refit kit alters the Rifleman's role somewhat, replacing the
long-range Imperator-A Autocannon with Magna MK III Large Lasers. This new
configuration means that the Rifleman can no longer hang back while other
'mechs move in, but will move with the lines.
Other upgrades include better armor protection in the form of nine and
one-half tons of Kallon Unity Weave, a better heat dissipation system equipped
with Double Heat Sinks, and replacing the sometimes troublesome Garret T11-A
with the more compact Dalban Commline communication system.
