In the spirit of the incredibly powerful but obscenely expensive Battle Platform, Here are two much smaller battle satellites or "battlesats". They are designed to work in tandem, with the Type 1 beployed in defensive positions around the larger Type 2, taking out any fighters and small craft trying to slip through, and the Type 2 attempting to skag any capital-class ships coming near. Given that the two stations are relatively cheap, I do expect that they could be deployed around an important world in a complete defensive screen.

I just did some math (my head hurts now) and I just tallied up the cost of a small network of Battlesats.
Battlesat Type II x12 = ~6,000,000,000
Battlesat Type I x 72 = ~32,400,000,000
Total = ~38,400,000,000
Each Type II is deployed in a strategic point in the defensive net, with 6 Type Is deployed around it (one on each side: up/down/port/starboard/fore/aft).
Compare the price tag of 38 bil. with the cost of a single McKenna class battleship, 21 bil. For the cost of a battleship and its support ships, you can completely protect an important world, which the ships would probably be used for anyway. Right. The small defense network I gave in my example would likely be deployed around an important, but not vital, world. One with a minor-moderate size 'mech production facility perhaps.
