==Overview:==
The System Defense Drone (SDD) is a new type of weapon being developed by the
NAIS. Essentially an unmanned aerospace fighter, the SDD is a revival of the
old cruise-missile concept. It is designed to destroy opposing DropShips and,
especially, WarShips.
The SDD can be launched from a standard Aerospace fighter strip, or it can be
magnetically attached to the hull of a DropShip or WarShip. The attachment is
a slow and cumbersome EVA process, but it allows SDDs to be transported
through hyperspace without tying up aerospace fighter launch bays. If the
system proves successful, they may even be attached to military JumpShips as a
defensive weapon.
The SDD is remote controlled during launch, but carries an advanced artificial
intelligence to let it operate at distances where the light speed
communications limit makes remote control impractical. The AI can go towards a
designated target, choose and execute evasive manuevers, and execute attack
runs, but it can do little else. It is incapable of deviating from its mission
to evade aerospace fighters, and a trained aerospace pilot can destroy it with
only a little tenacity. Still, projections indicate that the SDD's flight
system is advanced enough to evade a significant portion of weapons fire
directed at the craft, and they will have little difficulty in destroying even
the heaviest WarShip if used in numbers.
The SDD's only armament is a single nuclear warhead, with a one megaton yield,
while the machine's only mode of attack is head on ramming. Given this mode of
attack, a given number of SDDs are almost sure to destroy at least some of
their targets, especially in their first few uses, when surprise should be
total. SDDs will also provide a tactical advantage by drawing enemy aerospace
fighters onto themselves, freeing friendly fighters to attack WarShips or
enemy fighters with minimal harrassment.
(Note: The large pulse laser is not a weapon. It represents the tonnage
required for the AI and the magnetic clamps.)

Hmmm... I never thought of putting anything there (with the spare parts and stuff.) And I didn't know you could add stuff there for aerospace fighters. I'll have to keep that in mind. Thanks, ralgith.

Welcome, downside to it is you can't assign any BV when you put things there, and really should have BV.

Well, while I'm thinking about this one, I'll post the updated version, which uses ralgith's suggestion. It also has tonnage allocated for the magnets and warhead.
