O.K. On the plus side you have excellent speed and the jump is most impressive and you have a descent electronics package. However the armour is very weak , the weapon load is light and to use the light active probe you have to get within 3 hexes where you are more likely to be hit as you will be too close for your ECM suite to be effective and your thin armour will be easily breached. Overall a vulnerable design.
Err... this mech has light TAG (that has range long enough to spot anything detected by the AP), not light AP. As I said its special operations mech, not combat machine.

O.K. to explain my thinking 1) Light TAG still requires you to get within 9 hexes 6 would be better during that period you cannot fire your weapons mean time you are well within the optimal range of most clan weapons (your most likelly foe) 2) The clans generaly do not use the tactics this mech is designed to use ...one on one duels are still the clan way. 3) Your armour is closer to what is mounted on a 20 ton mech not a 30
now with a lighter electronics package and more armour it does have potential. That is how I feel YMMV

Thin armor and "ranged" (but weak) weapons are there to force even hot headed warriors to avoid fights (lasers are purely defensive). It's purpose is to use the mobility and electronics to sneak to the target from unexpected direction, target it for artillery and fade away before the defenders realize what's happening. It keeps with original purpose of the Spider that was designed for special operations.
Light TAG is sufficient for targeting command centers and other important nonmech targets targets.
The design originates in WIE clan, Diamond Sharks (unorthodox clans that may use it for intended role) and Star League forces are other users of this design.

One on one duels only? Explain the Naga.
Most clan MechWarrior hate that thing and it is difficult to get one in the cockpit...And that is a mech that does damage ! this design is intended to set up a target for SOMEONE OTHER THAN THAT PILOT clan warriors do not like that ...Admittedly there has been some corruption of the warrior way with exposure to inner sphere combatants.
