This is my bumbling attempt at a 'mech-aerofighter hybrid. The thought was to make a 'mech capable of flight like an aerospace fighter (in space, at least. I think it would probably burn up or otherwise crash in an atmosphere), but also capable of performing complex maneuvers an aerospace fighter cannot. The engine is much larger than is indicated from the land speed because most of the output is going to the variable-direction thrust jets mounted in various parts of the body. The Gyro is based on the Heavy Duty version (it's just as big and heavy, I just renamed it) because of all the advanced systems required to keep the 'mech from simply losing control and spinning wildly off into space.

HOW I CAME UP WITH THE ENGINE RATING:
I took the engine rating for a 35 ton aerospace fighter capable of 8/12 movement, a 210 engine weighing 9 tons, and checked to see what a 210-rated fusion engine weighs on a 'mech (10 tons). I then reduced the overall thrust points because the energy is being routed 4 different ways, and the thrust system is only recieveing most, not all, of what it normally should.

PERSONAL NOTE: I'm almost certain that there's no place in the actual design rules for something like this, so please don't ridicule me for that. Also note that I'm well aware of what a LAM is.

What, exactly, are you trying to accomplish? What kind of complex manuevers are you talking about? And why would it be better to use this technology on a mech instead of a dedicted AeroSpace Fighter? Fighters are made to fly, mechs walk or jump.

Perhaps he is trying to create his own Land-Air-Mech or LAM. Still can't find my compendium or I'd post the rules for LAM construction, anyone else able to?

There really is no use for the technology, it's just an experiment. I posted it here to see if it was a failed experiment.

Fouund my Compendium. Here's what it has on LAM construction which is what you seem to be attempting to create.

"The only addition to the BatleMech construction rules when constructing an LAM is that 10 percecnt of the LAM'stotal weight(rounded up to the nearest half ton) must be devoted to it's conversion equipment. An LAM can never be heavier than 55 tons. OmniMechs cannot be built as LAMs."

In that the 'mech doesn't change into anything. It's a flight-capable 'mech, not a 'mech that changes into an aerofighter.
