For believe ability. At 23 million and change for this CLAN mech. That means not only does a merc unit have enough money (roughly 150 million) c-bills to buy this unit in theory. It also has to negoiate with someone to repair clan tech, and field something else to round out this incredibly expensive company they've designed.

Plus which clan gives 7 prototype 100 tonners with 4 guass rifles and an ER PPC to any mercenary unit?

I just can't believe the story behind the Dagon.

Maybe if you told me this was like a Smoked Jaguar or like Snow Raven I might have more sympathy for it.

To start, this 'mech is nasty. 75 points of damage is nothing to scoff at, and there's no structural flaws anywhere. Usually this is the sort of 'mech I'd subtract points from for munchiness, but I've always had a soft spot for Gausszilla.

The fluff text is totally unbelievable though unless you're talking about Wolf's Dragoons. They're the only Inner Sphere power with any shot at building something like this.

I guess its high time I responded to these ones.
Ok, if you note I left WHO the merc unit was completely open ended. This was on purpose, so that readers could use imagination to fill it in with something appropriate - which mud kinda did with his possible. There are many ways this could be realistic, corporate backed units where the family owns both the mercs and the corporation, ultra high end mercs like Kell Hounds, Wolf's Dragoons (who don't really fit cause they'd just make it themselves on Outreach), and any other A* rated mercs with big pocket books.

As for the 0 rating it was given by Blackhand, I dissmiss it out of turn, simply because it is too biased and isnt very constructive. People, I LOVE constructive critisism. So much so that I actually rate the review as useful, and sometimes go rework the mech to incorporate suggestions (new versions of some of my older designs will be splattered into the customs section soon because of this), but when you just rag on a design because of personal preference instead of trying to be objective and imaginitive, forget it. I will ignore such reviews because they are of no use to me. Half the point of my posting designs is to get quality feedback on them for future work I do.

Perhaps it might be useful if a few of the people known for doing good design reviews were to make a tips thread or something, so others (especially new people) would have a better idea of what people are looking for in reviews. I know that I've looked at a few of my own reviews and not liked them or even completely disagreed with them.

Thankfully I've not had that happen to me yet However I think a thread made sticky about what people look for in reviews would be a good idea, and I'd contribute to it. Because like I said, I want constructive critisism, I wan't to know what you think is wrong or right, and why. Suggest changes, modifications, alternate ways of doing things, etc, etc...
