Overview:
The Thunder Hawk is a Star League-era design developed and built for the SLDF by Norse Technologies during the final six years of the Amaris Civil War. General Aleksandr Kerensky is believed to have taken all the remaining Thunder Hawks with him on the Exodus. After
recovering new technologies, Norse Storm began reproducing the Thunder Hawks.
However rumors of a very similar machine found in Clan Wolf in Exile soon spreaded word among the Inner Sphere. Many believed this was the Clan version of the original Thunder Hawk.
They were right.

Capabilities:
Clan Wolf in Exile needed a relatively cheap assault mech that can specifically destroy mechs at range. The Thunder Hawk fitted the bill but was too costly with an XL engine. Thus Wolf scientists began refitting the design with a cheap 300 Standard engine. Although successful, the mech was still too weighty to carries its powerful loadout so more modifications were made. 16 tons of FF armor were thrown onto the mech, the FF armor offered the same amount of protection as 19 tons of standard armor.
Converting the original chassis to endo - steel was tricky but deemed neccessary to avoid the cost of an XL engine. After the final modifcations, the Thunder Hawk IIC was born.

The original Thunder Hawk was designed as a fire-support 'Mech and it performs that role extremely well thanks to the devastating firepower of its three Norse Gauss Rifles. One salvo from these
weapons is more than enough to destroy a light or medium 'Mech and seriously damage or even cripple a heavy or assault 'Mech. The Clan refit is no less deadly.

Boasting 3 Omega series 12 Coil Gauss rifles, the Thunder Hawk IIC boasted the same firepower as its predecessor while being lighter at the same time. Also with the lighter Clan gauss rifles, it gave some weight savings for the standard engine. 16 reloads for each cannon, gives the mech some endurance in firefights but pilots are urged to make every shot count. Backing up the Gauss rifles are 4 Series 2a ER medium lasers which have greater range and punch than the original Defiance B3M lasers. A pair of Kolibri Delta Series medium pulse lasers serve as point defence and round up the weapon's array. Indeed rushing tactics with light mechs that worked well against the Thunder Hawk is no longer viable with the improved defensive armnament of the Thunder Hawk IIC. 14 double heatsinks were added to the chassis to make the mech cool but firing all lasers will still tax the Battlemech, something which should be noted by pilots.

Deployment:
Although spotted in Clan Wolf in Exile, many believe that the other Clans might have a similar refit of these mechs in 2nd line units, something that should be noted by units that raid Clan holdings.
