------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
Although the Rifleman has always had potential as both a fire-support and
anti-aircraft mech, it has constantly been maligned for its heat difficulties
and its fairly weak armor. Over the years, many factions have come up with
variants to deal with this, each one taking into account the newest
technologies.
As such, it was no surprise when Kallon Industries announced that they'd
be adding yet another Rifleman production line to their factory on Talon. What
was surprising, however, was what they did with it.

==Capabilities:==
The design was clearly based on the original 3N model, but with a limited
amount of modern technology added. The conversion to double heat sinks was
made to help the mech vent its waste heat, and the decision was made to use
CASE and endo steel technologies.
In what seems like a downgrade, however, the AC/5s were removed and
replaced with AC/2s with two extra tons of ammo. While this appears to
actually hurt the machine, in reality it provides a considerable tactical
advantage when one considers the Federated Suns' new specialty autocannon
munitions. It is believed that the common practice will be to provide each
launcher with a ton of armor-piercing rounds and a ton of either precision or
standard rounds.

I never saw the point in building horribly expensive fire support machines, so this is perfect. Cheap and effective in it's role.

And you can be reasonably sure that it can defend itself against fast lights now that it's got proper heat dissipation. All too often some medium mech got up close to the 3025 Rifleman and killed it because it overheated so badly.

Don't forget that it now also has more armor, so that in and of itself will also help it to last longer.

The main premise I was working off of was the FC's specialty autocannon munitions. I figured that if I downgraded the ACs to 2s, I'd have more tonnage for ammo; this way, the pilot can switch between the two types. I went from there.

The original Rifleman didn't have quite as bad armor as people complain about. It was bad compared to top ten heavies, not when compared to the mediums and lights that like to sneak up on the fire support.

It's the heat that usually killed my Rifleman mechs.
