==Overview:==
When the Lantren Corporation, the only producer of the Grasshopper, was
destroyed during the Succession Wars many pilots mourned. This meant that the
Grasshopper - possibly one of the most versatile heavy mechs in existance -
was gone.
Flash forward to the 3060s. Still reeling from losses sustained in the
Fall of Terra as well as Operation Bulldog, the Com Guards find themselves in
need of a multi-purpose machine, and the FRR military finds itself in need of
whatever it can get its hands on. After much debate, the decision is made to
try and bring back the legendary Grasshopper; however, by this time no known
blueprints for a complete model are left. Ultimately, the decision is made to
take advantage of the new technologies available to make a successor mech -
the Cricket.

==Capabilities:==
The most significant change made to the Cricket is that it is now 15 tons
lighter than the Grasshopper. This weight savings was the result of the useage
of double heat sinks and endo steel technology. In addition, the mech is now
at almost full armor and can go faster as well.
Rather than suffer, the weapons load-out has actually improved somewhat.
The mech retains its large laser, but due to the extra jump jet the weapon had
to be mounted in the right torso instead; a brand-new small laser now sits in
the large's old place. A CASE protects the LRM ammo, and a Beagle and a
Guardian help turn the unit into an electronics boat.

The Com Guard has asked that a token number of these units have their large
laser removed in place of a C3i command platform. With the extra tonnage, the
small laser is upgraded to a medium and a machine gun with a half ton of ammo
is added to each arm.
