Hello all this is my first post here and i would like to say what a great community you have here.

Many Years ago, I use to play Battletech alot with a few frends. Use to have £200+ in sorcebooks, rulebooks, technical readouts, Ralph Partha figures, campaigns books and so on. We had just started a large campaign back in 1998. Had a few great games, went home and got a call that my friends house had cought fire in the night. Everything battletech I owned (even MW2) was destroyed beside a DCM Atlas which i left at my house. Ive just recently bought classic battletech. (once BT bits its with you forever) and went through the rulebook. All the rules came back to me pritty easy execpt one.

I cannot for the love of god find any rules on Auto Ejection or remeber it. Could anyone be so kind as to give em the basics on operational/disabled auto Eject?

Thank you in advance and sorry for the long post.

I believe auto-eject pops you out instantly and automatically when there's an ammo explosion. Helpful in Lvl 1 play, or on machines with no CASE.

Welcome to the board. Always glad to have fresh blood.

And your post wasn't that long compared to some of the wind-bags we have hanging out here! Another point to note, autoeject doesn't do you any good when you get decapitated by an AC/20 or Gauss Rifle.

Our fearless Comstar Marshall has a point.

However, as many people here have no doubt by now realized, I am a house-rule fiend.

When I GM MechWarrior (and people tend to be attached to their characters) the auto-ejection system kicks in any time the mech is disabled and throws the pilot clear.

However, if the damage is catastrophic, e.g. reactor going Nova or a decapitating head hit, I make my players make a DEX save to avoid going up in smoke. Heck, even then I'll probably just smack them for 60 damage, so if their strong they'll survive anyway.

You may wish to consider assigning numbers to your Characters, most players are not the devil's advocate for Decaffination (decap's), they expect the Bad guys to die hiddeously, while at the same time expecting thier charactors auto-eject system to work every time.

Double standards, as you would say.

My rules for Auto-Eject are simple. If its Turned on, you Eject automaticly when ANY kind of weapon scores a "Lock" on the Cockpit. (sensors can be fooled, though) Direct-Fire weaponry (non missile), have a change in this rule, they strike the Cockpit, and do damage according to the weapon type. The pilot is Ejected and subsiquently takes a vicious amount of damage as he/she is literaly tossed free from the mech in the middle of the weapon ripping the head to shreds. The character does live, but they have to "recover" first.

Clansmen do not USUALY use Auto-Eject... if they have it turned on, they are ejected safely and may resume the fight as Un-Armed infantry. (in case you are interested in how i differentiate clan and IS tech)

Cheers

Ejection sxeats are for pu...well, Im not going to finish that one. Mordel would beat me with a frozen fish.
The clan warriors disable their ejection seats so they can die gloriously in combat. And the commanders see it as weeding out the weak warriors. If the warrior was any good, he wouldnt have died, now would he?

Ellistown near Leicester. Bit low on battletech players in my area but me and my friend are busy converting the locals to the cause! Glad to have another brit in the group anyway, welcome to the gang!

I think I need glasses, going through the list of posts real quick I swear I read this one as:
"Questions about Erections" and I asked myself what the hell did this have to do with Battletech.

Well, you know what they say about people that drive assault mechs... they must be trying to compensate for something!

If you've seen a pic of the Hollander you know that isn't restricted to assault mechs.
