Oh, by the way, Clan Warriors WILL NOT fire on a Mackie Unless it is the ONLY enemy unit left on the Field and it has taken severe offensive posture... something about Clan Society and Training.

Was going through the reviews and found this one. Is this for real? If for some odd reason there was an ancient Mackie on the field of battle against the clans, will they avoid attacking it? Never heard of this myself.
Is it to do with the incredible obsolecence of the design or is there so kind of taboo thing dealing with the grand-daddy of all battlemechs? _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?

I've never heard this. Clan sensors will know that it is not an original mackie if it heavily armed or has other significant changes. And a BattleMech is a BattleMech, even if it is old.
Now, if it was an original the reason why a Clanner wouldn't fire would be because it was beneath him.

I'd think it has to do with the "honor" thing they're so obsessed with. Destroying a unit that can't threaten them won't increase their honor, so they'll keep hoping for a better target. A unit loaded down with modern weaponry, on the other hand...

Raven,
ICQ has crapped out on me, so I am attempting to find you by any means possible.
In response to the message, if'n I was a clanner, I'd shoot it, simply because it's a 'mech. And as an obsolete mech, it deserves to be shot.
Now, as for the reason I'm contacting you:
Naquada Generator. Ever thought about that as a powerplant?

Does that mean that us wacky people can take your post seriously?
Would the gauss be to propel the Mackie? _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?

Targeting & Tracking System: (Unknown)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
There are 4 of these custom refits that were built for the OLA based mercenary
company Wack Rangers from 4 mackies that they found on an old Star League
Confederate class dropship the found when they stopped on an uninhabited
planet in an uncharted star system. where they had stopped off for a little
R&R on the way home from a mission.the jumpship that had carried the dropship
had misjumped then had a K-F drive malfunction leaving the Star Leage team
stranded in the early 2600s the rangers managed to repair the jumpship
spreading out some of their personel to crew the additional ships and brought
them home with them they took the mechs to Hattons mech sevice shop where the
4 Mackies where stripped down to the bare chassis and completely rebuilt them
==Capabilities:==
Replacing the engine, cockpit,and armour with modern equipment freed up
massive amounts of space and tonnage the PPC and class 10 autocannon were
replaced by two class 20 Ultra ACs the two crotch mounted lasers were replaced
by a single head mounted medium pulse laser trading fire power for accuracy
and giving the mech a less obscene profile the 15 single heat sinks where
replaced by 18 Double sinks to handle the heat load though it still runs hot
when the weapons are fired at their maximum rate.the armour load is 99% of
maximum making this machine a most formidable foe
==Deployment==
These 4 mechsare used exclusvly by the Wacko Rangers Mercenary Company

On a sidenote, I think the mechs would be a bit brittle after such a long time without service. Brittle to the point where they take damage from striding into combat and firing big honking ACs. Selling the things to museums might have netted you the money for some real mechs anyway.

The metals that make up the structure would not get brittle the four mechs in the fluff were stripped to the bare chassis. They were completely rebuilt engines, armour ,cockpit ,and weapon systems were all replaced. so essentially they are new mechs. Part of the reason for the extensive rebuilds would be to replace parts that are obsolete, warn-out, or degraded from age.

Of course, the extensive rebuild should take care of most problems. RPG-wise it would still take a lot of effort and money, wouldn't it? You are ordering custom-made replacements for a mech that went out of production before (?) the Star League was founded.
