These are bargain basement vehicles -Mud. Not front line vehicles. Yes Infernos could wipe these out but how much do they cost???
Much more than these. You could buy 4 of these for what...one maybe two of the infernos? It's all about economy. Backwater world needs military? Here's a cheap solution. _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?

btw..background on this vehicle.
A merc unit I ran for a while was heading to a garrison contract in the Capellan Confederation and brought the whole family as they had a jumpship( had to pay for dropships though). While on garrison they received an offer to raid a supply depot of the Free Worlds League. Well the terms of the contract said to destroy or otherwise make unusable the supplies at the depot to Marik forces. So we hired a Mule class dropship and took a large chunk of the supplies amid a pitched battle. Well, unfortunately our Liason Officer noticed the supplies and reported them so we had to split with half of it(plus bribes and whatnot).
Well on the planet we were garrisoning there was a hovercar manufacturer and we offered to split the profits if they made some cheaf hovertanks out of the parts we had combined with the chassis' and stuff from their plant. We reached an accord and my merc unit made 50,000 per unit sold. With the parts we had the plant was able to make 256 vehicles of this type, which would have made my unit a lot of money but unfortunately they didn't sell well. so we had a large stockpile of the vehicles and we traded some other parts for the rights to the design and vehicle. Ended up with 184 vehicles stockpiled on that planet. And longterm agreement to store them there. Was nice to have but they were a hard fit into a mech group. That's how my merc group became a combined arms battalion. We added more infantry later on to complete the transition. _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?

The story adds a lot to the vehicle.
I'd probably use them for something nasty, behind enemy lines. Like load the SRMs with Inferno missiles and go burning the countryside and anything else interesting.

Especially when you buy the cheap model.
The last thing you need is for the hover fan to break down in the middle of the battle with no parts to repair it.
All joking aside, I like this vehicle. It is a good fill in for a mixed arms mercenary group. Would work well as a fast scout ahead of the main mech force. Why waste an expensive mech when you can send out an in-expensive and very fast vehicle like this?

Because the 'mech is more likely to return to base and report.

Ever heard of encrypted radio traffic? They report back as they travel. So once they give the report, you can lose the hovercraft and not be out as much as if you lose the mech.
