I have decided to deviate from my normal perference/vs. posting this week. I am trying somethig different this time, so here it is:
Sirens shatter the silence of the night and soldiers are jolted awake. Pandamonium breaks out across the base as people rush to thier posts in various states of dress. You make your way to the command post where technicians are furiously sorting through incoming data and radio traffic. What can be gleamed from this controlled insanity is that Davion raiders are inbound. You have less than 8 hours to ready your mechs to face the enemy....
8 hours have passed and the situation has worsened. Your vaunted aerospace defenses failed miserably at stopping the invaders. Your company is the next in line. Recon units have located the raiders and identified each mech. Here is what you are facing:
2 x Valyrie VLK-QA
2 x Commando COM-2D
1 x Hatchetman HCT-3F
1 x Enforcer ENF-4R
1 x Dervish DV-6M
1 x Wolverine WVR-6K
1 x Jaggermech JM6-S
1 x Crusader CRD 3D
1 X Marauder MAD-3R
1 x Victor VTR-9A
What will you deploy against? Unfortunately, repairs have fallen behind schedule and you can only get 550 tons of mechs into the field.
Here is the Challenge:
1. You have 550 tons to work with and you need to form a company.
2. All mechs have to be Inner Sphere circa 3025.
3. House members can only choose common units and/or House specific ( such as Kurita cannot choose a Vindicator).
4. Clan members will be considered mercenaries and have their pick of the lot.
So, let's see how you handle this challenge. I look forward to seeing your choices.

I could get eight panthers into the field. That would be a tough nut to crack for these guys.

Wow...600 tons coming in at your 300 tons?
I think I would use guerila tactics if it's feasable..will work on the forces.
I'm capellan now...I changed to SLDF but I got booted to this...sigh...guess it was the draft.

OKay here's what I came up with on the fly.
Since I had to come up with Company strength, they are all lights.
WSP-1A Wasp x 4
WSP-1L Wasp x 2
JVN-10N Javelin x4
UM-R60L UrbanMech x 2
This is my Capellen company.
I would use my faster units to harass the Davion recon units then engage in an ambush to destroy them with the JVN's and the UM's. I would try it with one of the bigger mechs if I could get them seperated. If they stay together then it's hit and fade...hit and fade. Try to get them to pursue then string them out and ambush them. Only way I could see how to do it.

Since this is MY planet, what kind of fortifications have I got, and how many infantry can I throw at them?

Here's a nice little Steiner mech company with the kind of slow stuff we like. Remember to use my favorite defensive tactic of frontal assault.

Fortification - 1 heavily fortified base, although it is doubtful that i is a target. Spaceport defenses consist of a half dozen turrets (LRM and autocannon variety). As for infantry, you have a regiment dispersed around the planet on guard, training, and deployment duties. Additionally, about 1 battalion worth are on leave. To answer this threat, all you can throw together is 2 companies with supporting vehicles.
Air support is nil due to their dismal performance engaging the attacking force. On the plus side, the attackers have withheld their surviving aerospace assets (for now...)
