For those that play Sid Meier's Civilization 3, there are a group of people working on a Mod that would allow you to play it with a Battletech theme. Ie replacing units with battlemechs, battlearmor, & aerospace units, etc. And most noteably is that one of the people working on it is Peter Smith, who also works on the real battletech game (for those that do not know).

Wicked, i love the civ series, i spent ages looking for a Star Wars one. But a battletech one would be even better. How would they pull it off though? I mean it would be quite a challenge, but if done right it could be the next Counterstrike! (ok maybe optomistic there!)

Well, you can go to the link in my post and see for yourself on how they're doing it. They've already finished a good number of units and have samples of them all. And if you check other locations in the forum on that sight, I think you can find someone working on a Star Wars MOD for Civ3 as well.

Looks very interesting doesn't it? Maybe if it works people can make House marik actually amount to something, rather than this huge waste of space!

Sweettttttt, Oh I think my wife would hate, no I know my wife would hate it. Civ and Btech addictions separately, lost husband if combined.
That was the only other gaming BB I every belonged to was a Civ 2/3. If they do the civilizations as the houses and give them their backgrounds..... O man.
AWAD- relax, relax, patience, patience

Getting a bit off-topic here, but I cannot resist...
I recently unearthed an archived copy of Civilization I. Yes, I know it is lame. Yes, I know that the combat system made it entirely possible (and common even) for a bronze age Swordsman unit to kill a modern day battleship. But still, the game has got charm.
BTW, cannot wait for the BT mod.

I love Civilization. I never got really really good at it. I have a warmongering mind-set and attack anything I see. And then I have an annoying habit of buying every improvement in every city and I manage my money poorly.
I bet we could start up a Civ III league with people on these forums.

I am with you Mordel. I really should play it safe, but I am horrible with the money. SO I just turn on the cheat mode and give myself tons of cash. That way I do not have to worry about pesky things like taxes. I love having tanks and battleships when everyone else is still on horseback and using pirate ships.

I bought Civ III a few months ago and have tried to play it. Unfortunately, I just don't get it. I do stuff that makes sense to me and my town gets a disease and dies. I wish it was a little less abstract.

Civ 3 is brilliant, although it gets frustrating, (i never could work out why people under a democracy blow buildings up when your at war!) Should help the wareffort. Especially when some egyptian bugger attacks you then wont accept a peace offering! What can you do. Still, even at most frustrating, cant put it down or leave it alone!
