==Overview:==
Granted, the Galleon is a fairly common tank. Despite this, when rumors of
this specific variant came to us, it was a bit of a surprise. Although we
cannot confirm the individual sightings, it would appear that some minor and
mercenary units have chosen to refit their older-model Galleons with this kit.
Dubbed the GAL-300, the unit trades out the ICE engine for a fusion engine.
The tonnage saved by the switch is so great, that an AC/2 is added to the
vehicle. However, the unit is simply grafted on to the top of the vehicle and
has a limited range of elevation. Even with this limited elevation and its
fixed-forward position, it must still be noted the tactical advantage granted
by this one weapon. The unit can now snipe at other units at a range far
longer than what the vehicle could previously engage at. Backing this up are
now a trio of medium lasers (the two smalls were upgraded), a front-firing
small laser, and another half ton of armor. Bear in mind that this unit is
roughly 400,000 C-Bills cheaper than the official upgrade being manufactured
by Brooks Incorporated.
The working theory we have is that this unit was designed to provide fire
support for other Galleon Tanks and/or other similar light elements. Most
likely, this tank will be the personal vehicle of the team commander or other
such high-ranking officer within the combat hierarchy of the units this
appears in. Keep in mind, however, that we still cannot confirm or deny that
this vehicle even exists.
