as was pointed out to me resently the rMRB says that ALL standard SRM launchers can be loaded with inferno, yet it seems no streak infernos exist anymore.
so an SRM 4 can pack inferno's now.

Handy...a bit superflrous though. It makes sense though; there is no magical reason you could not mount inferno warheads into the magazines for the larger SRMs. I do not think that would make them more effective against infantry or vehicles, but against 'mechs....ick. Here's 24 points of heat for you. Have a nice day

All non-streak SRMs can have Infernos, now.
But they *don't* make a mech heat up more, just longer.
A burst of SRM-4 burns twice as long as SRM-2, while an SRM-6 deals three times the length of burn, but, again, doesn't burn any hotter.
You'll note that the Fire Dog variant (Named for the elemental variations of teh Chinese zodiac) not only uses Flamers instead of Machien Guns, but loads Infernos in the SRM-4. Right there in the write-up.
As for why Streak launchers can't do infernos, I think it goes back to teh MaxTech rule about no mixing of warheads on certain missle 'Chassis'. You couldn't have magnetic pulse Streaks, for example, or ELRM Deadfire missiles. Since then, I've always only seen that "Standard" missile launchers could be fit with unusual missile loads.
Reminds me of another house rule, tho, about missile loads. Need to toss that one out in another thread.
