Admist the wreckage of a sea of debris, remnants of dozens of destroyed 'mechs, tanks, helicopters and battle armor, a single 'Mech of remarkable design, smoke pouring out of its PPC barrels, and several holes that dot the armor, stands as a silent watcher over the battlefield. The grey clouded skies let just the smallest amount of light to peer in, a depressing shade for a depressing moment. Just minutes ago the valley was ablaze with auto-cannon slugs and rocket fuel. Lasers burned holes in the ever-thickening atmosphere while the hundreds of heat sinks present in the war machines shunted heat away from their sensative masters. The valley heated up incredibly during the firefight, as did the metal of the machines. Steam rose from them as the heat dropped and the rain began to fall. The once fertile river valley was now pure mud, result of the hundreds of tons of machinery weaving and dodging, and of the thousands of impact craters dotting the landscape. it will take at least a year for this place to recover, but the land is lucky. For those that died, there will be no recovery. Nor will there be any for those that lived...
On the shoulder of the lone standing 'mech a figure was perched, head bowed and hand against the side of his machine. The metal was hot to the touch still, but the long black haired man didnt seem to care. The wind picked up and cast several strands of the ebony strings into his face, whipping his eyes and cheeks. After a few minutes he let out a scream into the field. His voice was hollow and distant...fading with the light. He collapsed onto the shoulder of his mech, hands falling to his face....
