How many of you has or will use the MWDA 'Mechs in a CBT game?

Personally, I haven't yet but possibly soon i will.

Some of the designs are pretty good and look like some of the CBT 'Mechs. So I thought I'd ask.

I have the record sheet book but never really looked at the designs to any extent. Someday perhaps, but not in the near future.

Meaning have I used any of the designs in RS:MWDA1? No. I've looked at the designs of course, but there weren't a lot in there that interested me to be honest. Too many micro lasers and flamers for my tastes. Not to mention the fact that I don't get to play near enough as it is.

Have I used the actual minis for tabletop play (a la Minitures Rules)? No. I don't own any (although I did play the game three or four times before I decided the game mechanics were seriously flawed) and because it's collectible, I have no desire to waste my money on it.

Right now i am working on a scenario for MW: DA figures with CBT-Miniature rules.

As you can make torso twists, and move the arms, of most figures, i think using spare MW: DA figures with a green rating from someone who collects MW: DA is a very cheap alternative for buying and painting mechs yourself. At least as all miniatures used in a scenario have the same scale.

Of course the unique and elite figures are very expensive, but the green versions have a much lower rarity and every collector of MW: DA figures should be willing to sell you these figures at prices much cheaper than a unpainted CBT figure

I've done both. Ie, used the figures and used the record sheets. As far as using the figures goes, it just makes for something different to do rather than always using the lend stuff. I'm more inclined to be a little upset when someone mishandles my lead minis than when they do the click toys. It can be interesting to use the bigger stuff really, though not all the time.

As far as the record sheets go, as far as i'm concerned, a mech is a mech regardless of where it came from. FASA put out more than their fair share of crap designs, so it really doesn't matter to me much. I've also gone about working up record sheets for some of the unique units from their dossier cards that have not been in the record sheet book. Personally, i think some are actually pretty decent the way the stats work out on them.

MW: DA figures are very good for demonstrating CBT to bigger group of new players.

And as they have the same size as train models of size N, it is easy to get trees, houses, ... and of course railroads and trains that fit in size

Of course drop ships are a bit too big in scale N as even the smallest one would have a diameter bigger than 20 cm ( > 8 inch ).

Actually, they do have a dropship for MWDA, i think it's like 20 in long ang about 10 in wide. Has 5 usable turrets for anyone interested in using it in a DA game and 4 hangar bays. Of course i believe it'll probably cost you a good 100+ dollars if you wanted to buy it though. I think they might even have a placement layout sheet you can print out to place on a battlefield if you don't have the ship itself too.

And ya, the trains can work well. Guy I know actually played a game and setup a model train to go around the edge of the tabel as part of the battlefield and the game itself. It pretty cool i think.

And it makes it much easier to find a battlefield for your mini games, just invade the landscape someone has buildt for his train modells ...

Well, looks like you can add a few more original mechs to the list. Longbow, Rifleman, Phoenix Hawk, Kodiak, Hu Yuang, Marauder II and Ti Tsang are all in the new Counterassault expansion that just came out. Not to mention a modified Thunderbolt & Locust from the previous set. Also the Shoden, Fulcrum & Cavalry vehicles for you non-mechers out there.

Well it does seem that the 'Mechs are getting somewhat better with each expansion set.

They're getting more of the CBT look. The Liao Incursion & Counterstrike is pretty cool.
