==Overview:==
Concieved as a Scout killer the Uruk-hai mounts several new Technologies Including the new Hardened Armor. This new armor effectiverly give it the same armor protection as a heavy mech. and will haelp the unit take down lances of scout mechs with a greater survival rate. Named after a ancient terra fantasy character, the Uruk-hai were supposed to be hard hitting hard to kill creatures. Great care was taken to give the Uruk-hai mech the same menecing look and the same difficulity to kill as its namesake.

==Capabilities:==
Not as fast as most scout mechs the Uruk-hai has to rely on ambush tactics and heavy hitting in the first few seconds of the engagemant to surprise enemy mechs and deliver inital killing blows before the enemy can flee. Mounting a Supercharger and MASC the Uruk-hai can generate quick bursts to 129 Kph. to help it close in with emeny mechs. A Null Signature system helps to keep the mech hidden from scanners and other detection devices. Mounting a NAIS ERPPC and 4 NAIS ER Medium Lasers the Uruk-hai can generate impressive slavos of fire at the expence of extreme heat levels so careful monitoring is needen by the pilot in combat.

The NAIS weapons are just Identical to clan in weight heat and damage. I figure that its only a matter of time before they start manufacturing them in large numbers.

But anyway from what i read of the hardened armor this could be a very nasty mech to try to crack, even with the XL engine. Since the Hardened (if I read it correctely) reduices damage by half and each box is worth 2 points of damage this effectively has 64 points of armor on the CT. At least that is how I read it. But for a 45 ton mech that is pretty good. The top speed and the heat are the biggest concerns I have with it but still it should be able to hit hard and survive an enguagement reletively unharmed.

interesting idea to say the least.

my comment atm is about how you read Hardened Armor. how it opperates is that ever 2 pt of damage done reduces 1 armor pip. inital damage is not reduced only how its applied.

ex: srm 6- 4 missiles hit, each doing 2pts. this means each missile removes 1 pip each.

ex2: lrm 10- 5 missiles hit, each doing 1pt but group in 5pt groups. this means it removes 3 pips. 2 dmg, 2dmg, 1dmg.

ex3: lbx 10- 6 clusters hit. as each cluster hits individual of others each is applied vs the armor seperatly. as the armor removes 1 pip for every 2dmg or fraction of per hit, 6 cluster rounds remove 6 pips.

the real benafit of this armor lies in its side benafit. TACs! hardened armor NEVER! suffers a critical untill internal dmg is done.

so your CT is effectivly 32pts, but probibly closer to 24pts do to 1pt hang overs.

note- to my knowledge Hardened Armor cannot repeat CANNOT be used on any unit type other then mech.

Yeah I was rereading that and realized my mistake. I think the design is itneresting and could be a lot of fun to play with. Ill have to give it a try.

It'll certainly be interesting, even if people are likely to complain about the clanner weapons. Hardened armor makes the machines really nasty to kill, as I've seen. We did a friendly match between custom mechs, and my friend had a really horrible heavy mech. Hardened armor, targeting computer, variable-range targeting system and a load of medium lasers and DHS. Ouch! I didn't even manage to cause internal hits on that one.

you outta see my design, lovingly named the rock.

quad, reinforced is, hardened armor, compact engine, compact gyro, torso cockpit, turrets, and fair weapons. thing had only like 4 weapons but took forever to kill.

I have gone up against mechs with hardened armour it is aggrivating when you rip around behind it let loose with 8 clan ER small lasers and pour 40 points of damage into its back and the blood thing does not go down!

Unfourtionatly it is difficult to shove them on a 25 ton mech the Blizzard (posted on this forum) only has 5 tons of pod space.
