We had a noob join our campain and b/c hes new the GM is allowing him to use 3050 tech (dispite the objections of more experianced GMs) and allowed him to use his copy of heavy metal to create this mech.

Well its interesting. But hes going to be in a WORLD of hurt when he runs out of ammo and has to run around doing nothing. Or leave the board after 6 rounds because hes now just a overpriced target.

An IS LRM-only mech, slow as molasses? Dead, dead, dead. I'll take the engine for spare parts, it should work in the new Marauder series.

Agreed. The one I designed is ok it can at least defend its self a bit better but its just to specialized to be effective. The Lasers in the arms at least give it a little better defence and the extra ammo helps it last on the field longer.
But still I prefer lasers to LRM's anytime.

sadly this wasn't his first design... his first was a laser boat with not heat sinks... he seems to have trouble grasping the heat scale.
