I've tried to intoduce some people to the game and when they read the fiction, they think of mechs as being like tanks...just state owned assets. I tried to tell them there was a time, when a lot of mechs were family heirlooms and losing your mech was the worst thing that could happen to you, about how they were falling apart and fighting for salvage was important. They just don't get that the game originally was MadMax with robots.

Mad Max with robots...now that is something I like...dark and twisted yet under it all something love and build on...sappy I know but still that gray area is what made the game fun and different...now it's good guys wear the white hates and have sunburst on their shoulder and the bad guys wear the black hats and hit you with a mailed fist...

The whole Inner Sphere not just the Periphery...if you happen to have one of the older box sets like Second Edition or First Edition City Tech the write up on the back of those paints a very dark picture for WHOLE Inner Sphere...

The only real difference between the Inner Sphere and the Periphery when the game first was introduced was that all authority in the Periphery had broken down. They still had problems with priates, lack of spare parts, lack of water, lack of replacements, etc...

The Periphery is going 11 battles with only half your weapons and 2/3 your armor. Now that's fun.......
