==Overview:==
Designed by the fedrated suns as a "Inspirational Mech" The White Knight is a test bed for some new technology designed by NAIS.

==Capabilities:==
Design of the White Knight began shortly after the end of the civil war that ravaged much of the Federated Suns realm. The designers at NAIS had at that time perfected the improved jumpjets, supercharger, PPC capasitor and had been tinkering with a new item that makes its debut on the Knight (and also helped to name the new unit as well), the Shield. The shield has proven to help mitigate damege done by incomming fire by acting as a damage absorber (The shield on a roll of 8 or better on 2d6 will absorbe any hits to the right arm and the right torso until destroyed. once destroyed damage happens as normal) , Mounting a standard ER PPC coupled with a PPC capacitor the damage delt by the PPC is on par with the damage done by a standard Clan PPC, just with extra heat. Mounting Triple-strength Mynomer in additon to the heavy sowrd has also proven to be a boon for the design. The heavy heat generated by the PPC and the Lazers can keep the Knight at decent heat levels to get the most out of the Triple-strength and increasing the damage of the sword greately.

==Battle History:==
Only simulator and simulated battles have been preformed at this time. The results of which havent been released to the public yet.

==Variants:==
Several Varients have popped up recentely all involving differences with the shield and the removal of a laser (on a couple models). The first removes the regular shield and replaces it with a new shild with a Guardian ECM built into the framework. The second is the same except it a Bloodhound probe built in to the frame of the shield. Thus leaving the main weaponry intact. The second 2 variants both remove a laser to help deal with heat generated by the alternate shields. One is a Streak 6 with a ton of ammo built into the frame. The last is a 4x Flamer Shield that may prove to be to cumbersome to be much good. They all are a improvement over the standard shield and have been recieved well by the test pilots.

==Deployment==
Currently still in prototype stage the White Knight is planned to be deployed heavely to all of the Federated Suns house units.

i tinkered with mech shields.... used variation rules of hand held weapons.

mine where tower shield type weapons. covering the torsos, legs, and arm holding the shield. unless the weight was accounted for in the design, it slowed the mech down.

my rules were such:

shield:
weight: 2 tons + armor.
crits: none.
special: mech must have a fully operational arm. the loose of any actuator results in the shield being dropped. protects one arc at a time, forward or arm side. choose which side during movement. only head and other arm mounted weapons can be fired.

the shield could be dropped, and picked up using the same rules as clubs.

overall its a nice idea.

While the shield is a nice idea... Get rid of the sword! Your TSM-powered punches do 15 points of damage, enough to decapitate any known mech. Why trade two such punches for a club attack? Club hits are rolled on the general hit table.

And why waste the arms of a mech by not mounting guns in them? Arms have a better firing arc, something quite useful on the battlefield of any era. Move the ERPPC w. capacitator to the arm and mount more guns. That trio of Mediums would look wonderful on the other arm, for example.

First Looks. second I have noticed that the arms are usually the first to go (might just be my bad luck) and on the head punch thing. Eh, Prefer the weapon look, especially since its a mech ment to inspire troops.

I originally envisioned it as a Kite or Tower shield. I think the way I have it written up makes it a Kite shield.

Personally I have never liked the rules for hand held weapons, and that is what I was going for, I could just never get over the fact that if I was carrying a weapon I still had to set aside internals and what not for it. One of the reasons I made the shields a hybrid, part shield and part item. They absorb 50 points of damage and are then destroyed. But they are easy to replace by picking up a new one.
