Some of you may remember how last November McDonald's gave out some little Transformers toys with their Happy Meals. Two of them- figures called Megatron and Demolishor- transformed into tanks.

A few weeks ago, those toys finally hit Australia. You'll need Adobe Acrobat to read it, but on www.seibertron.com in their news bar (right-hand side of the screen on the main page) they have a copy of a report stating that these two toys have been pulled. The reason? A bunch of child psychiatrists protested the toys, saying that kids would be traumatized if they had to see tanks in their Happy Meals during a time of war.

I wonder if any of these brainiacs ever considered the possibility that war toys may just *help* kids by allowing them to work out their anxieties and that if they didn't work that's what the parents were there for.

Quacks. All of them. Quacks.

Ummmmmm, they're still available.....

The ads are still running on TV, and if you go in and buy a happy meal, you get a choice between one of a whole bunch of transformers, or these little dolls (I forget what they are exactly).

Which is what happens here when McDonalds has a toy which may not be appropriate for a some kids, they offer a different toy.

Classic case of over-reaction here.
