A good laugh is good for your health, or so they say. As I searched and couldn't find Gord mentioned on this site, I decided to enlighten you all. Here's a sample from Gord's stories about operating a game store:
No Gold For Me!
C:"What does it take to rent from here?"
G:"A credit card or drivers license and social insurance card."
C:"And if I don't have that?"
G:"Then you can't rent."
C:"I'm not going to rent anything from you then!"
G:"I do believe I just said that."

Too bad he makes Canadians sound like idjuts.
"Honest, we're not all dumb," Alexander states, looking around for those who would confront his lies!

It's not just video games. When I was assisting a buddy at a game shop, it was the same thing. Place had strict policies on Pokemon card sales (new stock would go out at 6PM on Thursday nights, and not a minute before). The guy went down to the food court to grab some dinner, so I was keeping an eye on the store. Lady came in at 5:15 and argued with me for fifteen minutes. She stormed out of there, said she would talk to my boss, and told my buddy that "this store has the worst policy that wasn't fair to her".

Well, consider the amount of customers you need to make a store float longer than a year. You're bound to meet some idiots.
Some games do rot your brain, though. I never understood what people see in some stupid driving game where the cars don't crash and burn. I played Carmageddon 1 and 2 instead of other racing games.
