Both the Arms and Equipment Guide and the Races of Faerun books have hit the shelves...
The former is an ok sourcebook, with some new stuff, including info on different types of ships and other means of travel and war-making as well as the required new magic items, etc., but is not really worth the $27 (IIRC) price tag, IMHO...especially as a lot of the material found in it can be found in other sourcebooks...
As for Races of Faerun...I just have this to say...
DAMN THIS IS A FINE BOOK!
I've only skimmed parts of it, but I can already tell this is going to be a VERY handy book for those of us who enjoy a romp in the Realms now and again...in addition to a lot of info on the various races (including subraces of humans in the Realms), they have new feats, monsters, magic items and, of course, prestige classes...among this latter is the return of the Dwarven BattleRager, the elven Bladesinger (this time, the correct version instead of the partial one first seen in Tome and Blood), the elven High Mage, the elven Spellsinger and the Breachgnome...there is even a Warsling Sniper for all you halfling lovers out there...
If you like reading up on the races, and love the Realms (or just want the info to add to your campaigns in other worlds), GET THIS BOOK!!!!!

Wow, have I been out of the D&D loop for too long!!
A breachgnome, wtf is that? Are they born coming out feet first or something?

Didn't you get those old Essential Guide books? They had one for each class and race back in the 2nd Edition...the Breachgnome was in the Gnome and Halfling book...the original BattleRager was in the dwarf book, the Bladesinger in the elven one...

I wish you would have warned me sooner! I was faced with the choice of getting either book just yesterday, and I picked the Weapons and Equipment Guide. Useful, yes, but I already had all of the information in scattered sources. Of course, the fact that they are scattered poses a problem...
The Races of Faerun is definately my next aquisition, since the Kender in my party wants a dwarven battlerager as his cohort when he gets his Leadership feat. The party strength will reach 7 after all the cohorts show up, and we're trying to think up a party nickname. So far I'm liking the Lagnificent Seven, but it doesn't quite feel just right enough. Oh, and Kraken is teh DM so it has to annoy the heck out of him, too

What about the 7 Ups?
Or maybe The Eight...when people ask about the missing eighth member, just say that it's your invisible buddy (or stripper ) that is standing over there peeing on the most expensive/otherwise valuable object of your hosts...or their legs, whatever works best...

Hmm, the idea has possibilities. Except that right now the kender handles peeing on everything...
We have myself, a paladin of Torm, that is fairly straightforward. When I get the leadership feat, I'll be picking up my two younger brothers, a cleric of Tyr and a mage that is also LG like the rest of us, plus a bard that is a changeling (still trying to figure out how to justify her character in game terms). My followers will be an elite light cavalry unit of assorted character classes.
We have a ranger that is basically Krunk from Emperor's New Groove, complete with squirrels and shoulder dudes that he consults before every major decision. No plans for a leadership feat here, since the squirrel network works well enough.
And we have a kender "handler" named Beavis because he's a pyro (with the feat and everything). When he gets his Leadership feat, he's thinking about getting a dwarven barbarian as his cohort, and his followers will be 5 more kender handlers that are "marriage police" trying to get Beavis to his wedding that he forgot about (yeah we ripped off that idea, but it's still fun).
Kender do not naturally exist on our world, which Kraken described to us abeing basically like Middle Ages Earth, more or less. He put us in France and we're stuck in the army for a draft period of two years. We've managed to waste about four months of that time, and currently are figuring out ways to defect to Germany (we know the French leaders are evil, plus none of us like France, even before the current hooplah going on), or maybe even back to Scotland where my paladin is from originally.
We've developed some crazy tactics like the ranger throwing the kender by his topknot into the middle of a clump of bad guys, or riding around in the ranger's specially modified backpack do he can "handle" stuff without being seen. Our other special tactics we have yet to reveal...
Right now we've got a fixer-upper keep in the Alsace-Lorainne region that we are planning on turning into a neutral trading post. Of course, this also requires the surrounding area to be under our control...
Anyway, other suggestions for our party name is welcome. Thanks!

Actually, as far as the glitches go with my stuff, my version of Word hates HTML and VBCode. And I can't manually type it all in as Compuserve kicks you off if you're not active for a certain period of time. As such, I have to copy-and-paste. Every board that I post stuff to has the same glitch.
Post a query about it on the fiction board and I'll tell you how I came to give the series that name.
