Overview:
Despite the rift between home-world and Inner Sphere clans, technology does still
propagate. In this case reverse engineering derived from reports of capabilities is the
culprit, as fear of the taint is still alive and well in the home-worlds. The Razor Crane
is a limited production run design undergoing testing by Clan Cloud Cobra. Its a very
unorthodox design for the Clans relying on melee capabilities that put it on the edge of
being dishonorable. Despite this, it has found limited success in trials against the Stone
Lions and Coyote.
Capabilities:
The Razor Crane is something of a Terror weapon. Its using its Mass, Speed, and weapons
selection to shock and demoralize lighter opponents before they have a chance to contribute
to a trial. The Infantry Heavy Stone Lions especially hate it. This is admittedly what
happens when the primary weapons are clusters of Flamers and Pulse lasers. Other units that
are very much not a fan are Protomechs and tanks. The Talons can swiftly dispatch both
units with terrifying ease. Getting into range to use such weapons is a easy feat for the
Razor Crane. 8 Improved jump jets and a partial wing system allow it to simply ignore cover
as it lands on top of its victims.
Notable MechWarriors:
A Razor Crane is a rather nasty bit of mega fauna that is best described as "What if a
Secretarybird had no chill?" At Nearly 6 meters tall, it is a bird like creature with a
long and sharp bill suitable for precise pecking, and long legs armed with wicked talons
which are its primary form of attack. Though not fully flight capable, it is able to use
its wings to assist in running jumps allowing it to close on its prey before they have a
chance to run. At which point it tends to kick them to death.
A small clutch of Razor Cranes was known to of been shipped to Arcadia in the Kerensky
cluster. They proved to be capable of preying on Steel Vipers, but also just about
everything else. In the end the entire clutch was put down as they were more destructive and
dangerous then the Steel Vipers they were brought in to control.
