What make's these things any better than normal AC's?
Am I missing something?
Why are they in HMP and I can't find info on them?
Why are there only 2's and 5's???
More confused than normal...
I'll have more questions later....

RACs are Ultra Ultra/ACs. They can fire 1,2,4, or 6 rounds at a time. The more rounds you fire, the more likely it is to jam. Fire 2: jam on a to-hit roll of 2. Fire 4: jam on a to-hit roll of 3. Fire 6: jam on a to-hit roll of 4. If you don't fire during a turn, you can unjam all RACs via a piloting skill roll. Only the Federated Suns makes RACs, but they seem willing to sell to most; excluding the CapCon.

Its actually a PS roll +3. Not easy for Greenies.
I love RAC/5's. Especially on the Urbie.

I think they were introduced in Feild Manual Federated Suns.

They are especially deadly when combined with a targeting computer as all shells hit the same location when aiming.
The reason they are only in 2s and 5s is anything greater would be Ultra Munchy Weapon of the Universe for All Time.

| Plus you can only expand walking mp during the same turn you are trying to unjam it, you cannot move in any other way.

Still better than the Lvl 3 Clan models...they don't unjam.

Can you choose to fire what ever number of rounds you want? 2,3,4??????
They eat ammo like there's no tommorow though....

You can choose before you roll, and they generate heat for each shot taken.
There are level 3 RAC10s and RAC20s created by MFUK.
I find they turn the AC2 and AC5 into very useful weapons.

if i remember correctly.
its a gunnery roll +3
only walking
and firing no weapons.
its better to use it in a lance.
in a duel, having your main gun die on you then being chased while trying to unjam it (and running away while walking is NOT fun)
i've only had it jam on me once.
my GM on the other hand has i jam very often.
its quite common to be able to slaughter him because his RAC wont unjam on a 5.

You can choose to shot, 1, 2, 4 or 6 shots I believe.

Hm. Since no one else (including myself ) covered this little bit of info, I thought I would. RAC stands for Rotary Autocannon. It's like a giant gattling gun.

Actually the fluff text reason is that they were created when someone thought of pairing up several Light AC barrells into one weapon...since only AC-5s and AC-2s were made into light ACs, there are only RAC-2s and RAC-5s...
And don't forget this little tidbit too...for each shot you fire, you generate normal heat...so if you rock and roll with 6 shots in a single turn, that's 6 heat...and you roll on the appropriate missile chart to see how many hit...

If you rock and roll and hold the trigger down for a full burst and aim with a Tcom for a location and somehow hit do all the shells hit or do you have to roll on missile charts yet?
