I didn't expect to need to make another report on another subject **this** soon.
I think this one's more on me but it's still worth noting.
I was creating a funny assault gun called the "Hastam Máo" it seems that using Chinese characters makes the site's save feature break and delete the design.
The first time, I thought it just failed to save. Worse yet, it only happens with some Chinese characters. The name itself has no issues but something about the manufacturer names just bricks the system.
If the designs can be found somewhere in the back-end, please restore them. The very first one, specifically, as that one has all the fluff I wrote for the damn thing. 
I know that's likely impossible but it's still worth noting that Chinese characters in the manufacturers tabs caused this. Might be worth looking into or at least making a warning for since Capella is a thing and someone might get unlucky for using google translate for flavor, like me.

Which characters are you experiencing this with? I just created a test design using 'Hastam Máo' in all the manufacturer fields I had and it worked fine.

The names were as follows:
Méiguī Machina v35 for engine (Seemed to work initially)
Dìqiú Telecoms "Tōngxùn qì v3" for communications
Dìqiú Telecoms "Jìngpiàn v2" for targetting.
The rest was in normal English (technically Latin but English characters) and worked fine.

I didn't have a problem with any of these characters and submitted the unit fine (see www.mordel.net/tro.php?a=vt&ut=bm&id=55319). So I'm not able to reproduce, so curious if something else is going on?

I found the specific phrase!
Quánqiú de Telecoms seems to be the specific words that cause the issue.
I recreated the unit and after fixing the name from "Dìqiú Telecoms" to "Quánqiú de Telecoms" it did it again!
I've tried to add attachment screenshots but it seems that .png and .jpg are not supported... or at least it isn't working for me.
Note that the unit got deleted after I already had saved it with the old names. Here's the exact screenshots (through switch "Dìqiú Telecoms" to "Quánqiú de Telecoms")

OK, so I still can't seem to reproduce, can you provide EXACT steps from the moment you open the unit designer, starting with a fresh design?
I also updated the site to allow image attachments (I hope).

Image attachment issue aside (I saw some errors posted to the server with regards to that which I'll ignore for now), I did figure out the issue.
A while back I converted everything to support UTF-8 and extended a lot of columns to account for the fact that Chinese characters take up to 4 bytes of space each. However, there are apparently still some flaws in the way I implemented it. The string you tried to submit was 60 bytes long, when the field only supports 58 bytes. This is why it happens sometimes and not others. It isn't any single character that is an issue, it's the quantities of those characters within the string.
I'll create a bug for this.
