Overview:
Its been said that a protomech could accurately mimic the capabilities of an old style Wasp
or Stinger. The Vespoid was created to achieve that goal.
Capabilities:
The W1K, is based on the.... you get the idea. In some ways there is no way to match the
Wasp 1K. It it carries a heavier load of armor then a 9 ton protomech can hope to match.
It also has an advantage in heat sinks, where as a protomech will tend to use chemical
lasers when matching capabilities. Still the W1K does the best it can. It has the
firepower. The firepower is good enough to last as long as it likely will. There's even
enough machine gun ammo that the protomech can and does crank it up to rapid fire rates. If
not for that, the chemical laser would have greater reserves of regents.
Deployment:
Despite being formally designed, and that battle history to consider, there are no plans to
actually produce Vespoids. Their mobility or firepower is below the thresholds useful in
modern combat.
Variants:
Just how many Wasps and Stingers are there? The modern ones built or rebuilt to keep up
with modern combat are likely out of reach, but even now the majority of the ones in use are
based on star league era models.
