Overview:
The Brace is a pre-modern design. It was intended to be a battleline unit, supporting other
more traditional mechs in an economical package. In the modern era it has been superceded
by heavier elements with same mission profile, such as the Drudge.
Capabilities:
The B configuration dips into more esoteric weapon choices to provide an anti-infantry,
vehicle, light mech platform that also excels at finishing off wounded mechs. This is
provided by the mech mortars, which are not known for being particularly powerful, but are
great for showering an area looking for weak points. Its also hard to dodge an entire storm
of shrapnel aimed at your general location. On its own the accuracy of the mortars is
reduced due to their arcing trajectory, but if you use the TAG to range find and, pardon
the expression, brace in place, accuracy can be greatly enhanced.
Because this configuration of the Brace really wants to maintain its position several Chaff
pods were included to mitigate the effectiveness of incoming fire. Finally, recognizing
that getting under its guns is one of the safer places to be, Medium X-pulse lasers provide
close in coverage against hunter killer units.
