Overview:
In an effort to build back up the morale of the Lyran Commonwealth and the LCAF after
decades of loss, Archon Trillian Steiner decided to resurrect the Hauptmann OmniMech, but
instructed the engineers at Defiance Industries, TharHes Industries and Coventry Metal
Works, who would all share the design, to improve upon the previous OmniMech. The result was
the Hauptmann II, a true descendant of the original and worthy of its legacy.
Capabilities:
Upping the mass to 100 tons, it was decided to give the design a clan-grade extralight type
300 fusion core. Although this decision does make the design more vulnerable than the
original, it also freed up enough mass to switch out the internal structure for a heavily
reinforced armored skeleton. This change allows the design to absorb massive punishment
before failure. It also leaves massive amounts of internal volume free to be fitted with
whatever weapons and equipment are needed to be fitted; which is useful considering the fact
that the design still has 45.5 tons of pod space available despite its heavy structure.
Deployment:
Much as the original, the first Hauptmann II’s produced have been distributed to those of
that rank throughout the LCAF.
Variants:
Delta configuration is another variant that combines a few hard hitting guns for a deadly
package at long-range, but adds quite a bit of lethality versus softer targets at closer
ranges with a trio of anti-personnel Gauss rifles in each arm. Rear-mounted extended-range
medium lasers make backstabbers think twice, and the last half-ton is used by a head-mounted
micro-pulse laser.
