Sorry, I just haven’t seen a single design with a compact engine that isn’t better with some other choice. Compact engines simply weigh too much vs any potential benefits. I can armor most standard engines for less tonnage than switching to a compact engine.
In this case, if I read the design correctly, for instance, I could switch to a compact gyro instead of a compact engine, keep a standard engine and still have the space for what you added to the CT.
Maybe I missed something though.

No, you are correct about compact anything in mech building if you add more than tonne I say it is too heavy, space saving are just not worth it, I think you spot on, I just wanted to try it, that is why I it was the blackjack.

While I will obviously agree on the compact engine, the compact gyro can be very useful in several designs, allowing 3 or 4 crit-sized weapons or multiples of those who only take 1 or 2 crits to be placed in the CT or even more than 2 jump jets or two improved jump jets. Or such items and things like active probes or ECM suites.
I also love that it only takes a ton to armor a compact gyro. Which tends to be better than using a heavy duty gyro.
