Does Ferro-Fibrous armor every be a critical hit location that didn't call for a reroll, also did endo-steel and other have the same in game effect in classic battle, did empty slot ever be a result on the same chart, or is my memoir just wrong.

I personally am not aware of any such instance, however, a lot of players - myself included - tend to do house rules for such things anyway.
In my case, my house rule is that damage to one of those critical slots adds a difficulty bonus to repair jobs, with mechs that repeatedly take such damage deteriorating in condition over time.
I've never had a campaign run long enough that a player's had to mull over what to do with their mech.

Not for as long as I've been playing, so 1990 or so. Maybe some of the older and "more wise" than I can think back to the early days!

Ferro/Endo has always been a reroll.
